1 12-inch Zipper

CARRIAGE COVER: With No. 5 needles, cast on 151 sts.
Knit for 16 rows, then work in pattern as follows:
Row 1—K 10, P 5, K 1 * P 9, K 1 repeat from * to last 15 sts. P 5, K 10.
Row 2—K 10, K 4, P 3 * K 7, P 3 repeat from * to last 14 sts. K 14.
Row 3—K 10, P 3, K 5 * P 5, K 5 repeat from * to last 13 sts. P 3, K 10.
Row 4—K 10, K 2, P 7 * K 3, P 7 repeat from * to last 12 sts. K 12.
Row 5—K 10, P 1 * K 9, P 1, repeat from * to last 10 sts. K 10.
Row 6—K 10, purl to last 10 sts. K 10.
Row 7—Repeat row 5.
Row 8—Repeat row 4.
Row 9—Repeat row 3.
Row 10—Repeat row 2.
Repeat above 10 rows until work measures 34 inches, then knit for 16 rows. Bind off.

SWEATER-BACK: With No. 1 needles, cast on 61 sts knit for 10 rows. Change to No. 3 needles, work in pattern as follows:
Row 1—P 5, K 1, * P 9, K 1, repeat from * ending P 5.
Row 2—K 4, P 3, * K 7, P 3, repeat from * ending K 4.
Row 3—P 3, K 5, * P 5, K 5, repeat from * ending P 3.
Row 4—K 2, P 7, * K 3, P 7, repeat from * ending K 2.
Row 5—P 1, * K 9, P 1, repeat from * ending P 1.
Row 6—Purl across the row.
Row 7—Repeat row 5.
Row 8—Repeat row 4.
Row 9—Repeat row 3.
Row 10—Repeat row 2.
Repeat these 10 rows to underarm—8¼ inches.
Bind off 3 sts each side, then K 2 tog. each side every other row twice.
Work until armhole measures 4 inches.
Bind off 16 sts for shoulders. Bind off.

FRONT: With No. 1 needles, cast on 31 sts knit for 10 rows. Change to No. 3 needles, work in pattern to underarm. Bind off 3 sts at armhole side, then K 2 tog. at armhole side every other row twice. Work until armhole measures 3 inches. Bind off 7 sts at neck edge. Then K 2 tog. at neck edge every row 3 times.
Work even until armhole measures the same as back.
Bind off.
Work other side the same.

SLEEVE: With No. 1 needles, cast on 31 sts knit for 8 rows, increase to 41 sts across the row. Change to No. 3 needles, work in pattern for 7 inches.
Bind off 3 sts each side, then K 2 tog. each side every other row until 21 sts are left.
Bind off.
Sew shoulders, sides and sleeve seams. Sew sleeve in place.

COLLAR: On wrong side of work, pick up 56 sts knit for 2¼ inches.

Bind off loosely.

HAT: With No. 1 needles, cast on 61 sts knit for 10 rows. Change to No. 3 needles. Work in pattern for 4½ inches. Bind off 5 sts at the beginning of each row until all sts are gone. Fold hat and sew back seam, neckband, pick up 46 sts. Knit for 10 rows. Bind off. Make small pom poms. Sew on point of hat.

BOOTIES: With No. 1 needles, cast on 31 sts. Knit for 8 rows. Change to No. 3 needles. Work in pattern for 3 inches. Knit over 10 sts slip these on st holder.
Continue working in pattern over center 11 sts for 1½ inches.
Pick up 6 sts on each side then slip all sts on needles, knit for 1½ inches.
Bind off.
Sew up soles and back seam.
Trim with ribbon.
