REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 3-ounces of Green 3-ply Baby Yarn. 1-ounce of White 3-ply Baby Yarn.
NEEDLES: 1-pr. #1 single pointed; 1-pr. #3 single pointed.

GAUGE: 8 sts to an inch. 10 rows to an inch.

BACK: Using the #1 needles and the white yarn cast on 76 sts. P 2, k 2, for 3 rows. Tie in green yarn and work 2 rows of green ribbing, now 2 rows with the white yarn. Alternately working 2 rows of green and then white, work in ribbing for 2 inches. Now change to the #3 needles and continue in stock­inette stitch still changing colors every 2 rows. Work until the piece measures 8 inches or as long as you want up to the under­arm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row twice. Now work until the armhole measures 5 inches above the underarm bind off. SHOULDERS: Bind off 7 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows; 9 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Place the remaining sts onto a st holder for back of neck.

LEFT FRONT: Using the #1 needles and the white yarn cast on 45 sts. 1st row: (wrong side) K 3, p 5, k 3, * p 2, k 2, repeat from * to end of row. 2nd row: (right side) Do ribbing for 34 sts, k 11 sts, (border). Work alternate colors as on the back for 2 inches, keeping the border sts up the front. After 2 inches change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch changing colors as on the back until the piece measures the same length as the back up to the underarm. With the right side of the work facing you bind off 2 sts at the beginning of a knit row, once. Decrease 1 stitch at the underarm edge every other row twice, ending with white purl row. Tie in green yarn and work 24 rows of stockinette stitch. Break off green and tie in white. Work until the armhole measures 3¾ inches above the underarm. NECK SHAPING: At the neck edge bind off 6 sts once, bind off 3 sts at the neck edge 4 times. When the armhole measures the same as the back, from the armhole edge bind off 7 sts twice; 9 sts once.

RIGHT FRONT: Using the #1 needles and the white yarn, cast on 45 sts. 1st row: (wrong side) K 2, p 2, for 34 sts; k 3, p 5, k 3. 2nd row: (right side) K 11, work ribbing to end of row. Work to correspond to the left front for an inch. Buttonhole: K 5, bind off 3 sts, finish row. Next row: work back to where you bound off the sts, cast on 3 sts, finish row. Make buttonholes 1½ inches apart. Work to correspond to the left front, tieing in colors for the yoke effect, tie in opposite to form block.

SLEEVES: Using the #1 needles and the green yarn for the complete sleeve, cast on 50 sts and work in ribbing for 2¼ inches. Change to the #3 needles and knit across next row, increase 1 stitch in every 4th st, 12 times; knit to end of row. Purl back. Work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 9 inches in all, or as long as you need. UNDERARM BIND OFF: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 12 times. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every row 4 times. Bind off all sts. Make the 2nd sleeve the same way.

FINISHING: Sew shoulders, side seams, sleeve seams. Sew sleeves into armhole matching the underarm seams. NECK BAND: Using the #1 needles and the white yarn, pick up and knit 90 sts around neck. Work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for ¾ inches changing colors every 2 rows as on the back band. Bind off loosely. Sew buttons into place.
