MATERIAL:
3 balls Saxony 3 fold (1 oz. ball)
1 pair knitting needles No. 3
1 24" circular steel needle No. 3
Ribbon for trimming 1 stitch holder

GAUGE: 7 sts. = 1 inch

PATTERN:
1st row: * K4, P2, repeat from * all across, end K4
2nd row: * P4, K2, repeat from * all across, end P4
3rd row: K1, * P2, K4, repeat from * all across, end K1
4th row: P1, * K2, P4, repeat from * all across, end P1

BACK: Cast on 76 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in pattern for 6 inch. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 4 sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (64 sts. left). Work even for 4½ inch, from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 rows 10 sts., rem. 24 sts. put on a stitch holder.

FRONT: Cast on 43 sts. with No. 3 needles and work in pattern. Cast on 1 st. at the beg. of each row at front edge 4 times. With 47 sts. work even until entire piece measures like back up to underarm. Bind off for armhole at seam edge 6 sts., and at the beg. of the next row at seam edge 2 sts (39 sts. left). Decr, for neck 1 st. at center edge every other row until 20 sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off at armhole edge 10 sts. 2 times. Work the other front to correspond.

SLEEVE: Cast on 44 sts. with No. 2 needles and work in rib­bing K1, P1 for 1½ inch., increasing 4 sts. at even inter­vals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 3 needles and pattern. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every 6th row until 56 sts. are on needle. Work even until entire sleeve measures 7½ inch. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until 44 sts. are left. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 4th row until 36 sts. are on needle. Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of each row until 24 sts. are left over. Bind off. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING: Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. With No. 3 circular knitting needle and right side facing you, work across sts. held on holder for back of neck and pick up all around the entire jacket 232 sts. (total of 256 sts.) K1 round. Next row: incr. 1 st. in every 10th st. Work even for 3 more rounds. Next round: turn, K back. Bind off. Steam lightly and sew ribbon in place.
