Place the remaining sts onto a 2nd st holder. Cast on 1 st at the end of these thumb sts; turn and purl across. Cast on 1 st.

Next knit row-ALL SIZES: Knit 2 sts together across the row. Break yarn leaving 7 ins. Thread a darning needle and draw thru the sts and fasten tightly on the wrong side. Sew up thumb.

2nd dec: (all sizes) * K 4, k 2 tog, repeat from * across row. Purl 1 row.
3rd dec: (all sizes) * K 2, k 2 tog, repeat from * across row. Purl 1 row. Knit 2 sts together across next row. Break yarn, leaving 10 inches. Finish off as the thumb top. Sew up the side of the mitten.
LEFT MITTEN: Cast on the sts and do the cuff the same way. Reverse the instructions for the increases and then work the rest of the mitten the same way.
