Curtains Pattern #988

Materials: J. & P. Coats Knit-Cro-Sheen, 8 balls of Maroon and 2 balls of White.
Milward's Phantom Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 6 (4¼ mm. size).
A slide.

When completed, curtain measures about 32 x 70 inches.

Gauge: 5 patterns make 2 inches; 12 rows make 2½ inches.

Starting at bottom, with Maroon cast on 216 sts and p across. 1st row: * K 3, slip 1st k st over other 2 k sts, O. Repeat from * across, ending row with k 3, slip 1st k st over other 2 k sts. 2nd row: P across. 3rd row: K 1, * O, k 3, slip 1st k st over other 2 k sts. Repeat from * across, ending row with O, k 1. 4th row: P across. 5th to 9th rows incl: Repeat first 4 rows once; then 1st row once more. 10th row: Drop Maroon, attach White and p across. 11th row: Repeat 3rd row. 12th row: Drop White, pick up Maroon and p across. These 12 rows constitute the pattern. Work in pattern until 27 White stripes have been completed. Finish curtain with 10 rows of Maroon to correspond with opposite end. Block according to gauge.

Center Tie-Back. Starting at one end, with Maroon cast on 20 sts and work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row) for 4 rows. 5th row: P across. 6th row: K across. 7th and 8th rows: Repeat 5th and 6th rows. Repeat these 8 rows until piece measures 15 inches. Block Tie-Back to measure 17 inches.

Sew slide to one end of tie-back and drape curtain as in illustration.
