1 Bone Crochet Hook No. 3 or 4.

With Red (Color No. 1229) cast on 41 sts.

1st Row--K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1, * P 2, K 2, P 2, K 2, P 2, K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K 1, repeat from *.

On each side of stripe crochet the following border--Join Scarlet ( Color No. 1228) to end of stripe, ch 3, 2dc in same space, skip 3/4 inch space, sc into side of stripe, ch 2, 2 dc in same space and continue to end of row.

2nd Row--With Red ( Color No. 1229) work a shell in each 2 ch loop.

3rd Row--Attach Cardinal ( Color No. 1231 ) and work same as 2nd row.

4th Row--With Cardinal ( Color No. 1231 ) work 1 sc in 2 ch loop, 1 sc in each dc of shell. Work 4 more stripes and sew them together.

BORDER. Across short ends work 1 row of 1 chain meshes as follows:

Join yarn, ch 4, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 dc in next st, repeat across row, break yarn and fasten.

FRINGE. Cut 12 inch lengths of yarn, take 4 strands, double these and knot in each mesh.
