Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY "DAWN" MEDIUM WEIGHT POMPADOUR or "DAWN" NYLON or NYLON POMPADOUR
2 ozs. Baby Blue.
1 oz. Baby Pink or color of your choice.
1 pr. each knitting needles No. 1 and No. 3.
1 double pointed needle No. 3.
Steel crochet hook No. 1.
2 stitch holders.
1 ½ yds. ¾ inch ribbon.
1 yd. ¼ inch ribbon.
GAUGE: 15 sts = 2 inches.

1st Row. With Blue on No. 3 needles cast on 9 stitches (sts), Purl (P) across row.

2nd Row. * Knit (K) 1, yarn over (y o), repeat from * across row ending with K 1 (8 increases).

3rd Row. P across row.

4th Row. * K 2, y o, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.

5th Row. P across row.

6th Row. * K 3, y o, repeat from * across row ending with K 1 (8 sections). Continue in this manner working one more K st before each y o on every K row until there are 105 sts on needle.

Next 2 Rows. Bind off 13 sts at beginning of each row (79 sts).

Decrease 1 st at beginning of next row.

Work 5 rows in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row), ending with a K row.

Work pattern as follows:

1st Row. ** P 6, * K 3 together (tog), in next st K 1, P 1, K 1 (3 sts are worked in 1 st), repeat from * twice, repeat from ** to end of row, ending with P 6.

2nd Row. * K 6, P 12, repeat from * 3 times ending with K 6.

3rd Row. ** P 6, * in next st K 1, P 1, K 1, then K 3 tog, repeat from * twice, repeat from ** across row ending with P 6.

4th Row. Repeat 2nd row of pattern.

5th, 6th and 7th Rows. Repeat 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows of pattern.

8th Row. Repeat 2nd row of pattern.

9th, 10th and 11th Rows. Repeat 1st, 2nd and 3rd rows of pattern.

12th Row. Repeat 2nd row of pattern.

13th through 18th Rows. Work in stockinette st (P 1 row, K 1 row). This completes 1 square pattern.

Repeat 1st through 18th rows of pattern once.

Change to No. 1 needles, work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1 inch, bind off in ribbing.

Sew back of Cap.

With right side of Cap toward you on No. 1 needles attach Blue at right front edge, pick up 74 sts evenly spaced around back of Cap to opposite side.

Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1 inch, bind off in ribbing. With Pink embroider flowers as illustrated, using a Lazy Daisy stitch for petals and a French Knot in center. Trim with ribbon ties as illustrated.

On No. 1 needles with Blue cast on 42 sts and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 1 inch. Change to No. 3 needles and work in stockinette st until work measures 2 inches from beginning ending with a P row.

Next Row. START BEADING: K 1, * y o, K 2 tog, repeat from * to end of row ending with K 1. P 1 row. K 1 row. P 1 row.

Next Row. K 16 and place on a holder, K 10 for instep, place remaining 16 sts on another holder.

Work in stockinette st on the 10 instep sts for 1 ¾ inches ending with a P row. Place these 10 sts on a double pointed needle, cut yarn leaving a length to fasten. Slip the 16 sts from first holder on needle, attach yarn and pick up and K 13 sts on side of instep, K 10 sts from double pointed needle, pick up and K 13 sts on opposite side of instep, slip and K 16 sts from 2nd holder (68 sts). K 7 rows.

Next Row. K 30, K 2 tog, K 4, K 2 tog, K 30. K 3 rows, bind off. Sew back seam.

SOLE: On No. 3 needles with Blue cast on 22 sts, K 1 row.

Next Row. K across row increasing 1 st at beginning and end of row.

Next Row. K across row. Repeat last 2 rows twice (28 sts). K 4 more rows even.

Next Row. Decrease 1 st at beginning and end of row. K 1 row even. Repeat the last 2 rows twice, bind off.

Without cutting yarn work a row of s c around sole working 20 s c on each long side and 12 s c around each end (64 sts), cut yarn.

With right side of upper section and wrong side of sole toward you with Blue crochet the upper section and sole together with a row of s c, cut yarn. Lace ribbon through beading. With Pink embroider flower same as on Cap. Work other bootie in same manner.
