MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) 4 skeins of Color 1 and 3 skeins each of Colors 2 and 3 OR Nantuk 4 ply Knitting Yarn (Knitting Worsted size-2 or 4 oz skein)-16 ounces of Color 1 and 12 ounces each of Colors 2 and 3

KEY TO COLORS ILLUSTRATED:

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 10 - 14 inch and 1 "Hiawatha" blunt end tapestry needle

Gauge: 1 pat measures 2 ¾ inches

AFGHAN IS KNITTED IN FOUR SECTIONS.

AFGHAN: Upper and Lower Triangles-Starting at outside edge, with Color 1 cast on 192 sts. Row 1-With Color 1 Knit. Row 2-(K 2 tog) 2 times, *(yo, P 1) 4 times, (K 2 tog) 4 times, repeat from * across to within last 8 sts, (yo, P 1) 4 times, (K 2 tog) 2 times. Row 3-Knit. Row 4-Purl. Row 5-Knit. Row 6-Repeat Row 2. Break Color 1 and tie on Color 2. Row 7-With Color 2 K 3 tog, K across to last 3 sts, K 3 tog (2 sts dec'd each side). Row 8-P 3 tog, P across to last 3 sts, P 3 tog (2 sts dec'd each side). Break Color 2 and tie on Color 3. Row 9-With Color 3 K 3 tog, K across to last 3 sts, K 3 tog (2 sts dec'd each side). Row 10-(yo, P 1) 2 times, *(K 2 tog) 4 times, (yo, P 1) 4 times, repeat from * across, ending (yo, P 1) 2 times. Row 11-Knit. Row 12-Purl. Row 13-Knit. Row 14-Repeat Row 10. Break Color 3 and tie on Color 2. Row 15-With Color 2 repeat Row 7. Row 16-With Color 2 repeat Row 8. Break Color 2 and tie on Color 1. Row 17-With Color 1 repeat Row 7. Repeat pat from Rows 2 through 17 until 8 Color 3 stripes are completed (12 sts rem'ing). With Color 2 repeat Rows 7 and 8 once more, then with Color 1 K 2 tog 2 times, bind off last st.

Side Triangles: With Color 1 cast on 276 sts. Work same as for Upper and Lower Triangles until 8 Color 3 stripes are completed (96 sts rem'ing). With Color 2 repeat Rows 7 and 8 once more (88 sts rem'ing), then with Color 1 K 1 row, dec'ing 1 st at beg and end of row. Bind off.

TO JOIN: Weave Side Triangles tog. Sew Upper and Lower Triangles to Side Triangles.
