This free pattern originally published in the Botany College Hand Knits, Volume II, in 1958.

Approximate Size 9 inches by 65 inches without fringe.

MATERIALS: BOTANY CLASSIC SPORT, 1 oz. skeins,
Color A-5 skeins Color B-5 skeins
KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 6 -OR SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.

GAUGE: 10 sts = 1 inch 29 rows = 4 inches

With A, cast on 90 sts.

Work k 1, p 1 ribbing until about 3 ins. from beg., 22 rows; always having an even number of rows. Break A. With B, work same number of rows as for first stripe. Break B.

Repeat these 2 stripes until scarf measures 63 ins. from beg., end with an A stripe, having 11 A stripes and 10 B stripes. Bind off in ribbing.

FRINGE - Wind B on a 4 ½-in. cardboard. Cut at one end. Using 6 strands, knot a fringe in space between 3rd and 4th st from edge on bound-off row, * skip 6 sts, knot a fringe in space between 6th and 7th st; repeat from * having last fringe in space between 3rd and 4th st from other edge. Trim fringe evenly.

Steam lightly to given measurements.
