Size: Infants to 6 months

REQUIREMENTS:
YARN: 4-ounces of 3-ply Baby Yarn.
NEEDLES: 1-pr. #3 single pointed.

GAUGE: 7½-sts to an inch. 12-rows to an inch.

PATTERN: ROW 1: Knit across row. ROW 2: Purl across row. ROW 3: Knit across row. ROW 4: Purl across row. ROW 5: Knit across row. ROW 6: Purl across row. ROW 7: Knit across row. ROW 8: Knit across row. ROW 9: Knit across row. ROW 10: * knit 2 sts tog, yarn over; repeat from * across row, ending with yarn over, k 1. ROW 11: Knit across row. ROW 12: Knit across row. Repeat these 12 rows for the pattern.

SWEATER: Cast on 79 sts and knit 6 rows. Now work in the pattern until the piece measures 6½-inches in all. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows (once at each side). Decrease 1 st at each side of the work every other row, twice. Work even in the pattern until the armhole measures 3½-inches above the underarm. Bind off all sts.

RIGHT FRONT: Cast on 40 sts and knit 6 rows. ROW 1: Knit across row. ROW 2: Purl 34 sts, knit 6 sts. ROW 3: Knit across row. ROW 4: Repeat row 2. ROW 5: Knit across row. ROW 6: Repeat row 2. ROW 7: Knit across row. ROW 8: Knit across row. ROW 9: Knit across row. ROW 10: * k 2 sts tog, yarn over; repeat from * across 34 sts, yarn over, k 6. ROW 11: Knit across row. ROW 12: Knit across row. Work in the pattern until the piece measures the same as the back up to the underarm. UNDERARM: At the underarm edge bind off 2 sts once. Decrease 1 st at the underarm edge every other row, twice. Work even until the piece measures 2½-inches above the underarm. Neck shaping: At the neck edge bind off 10 sts once; decrease 1 st at the neck edge every row 5 times. When the armhole measures the same as the back, bind off all sts.

LEFT FRONT: Work to correspond to the right one.

SLEEVES: Cast on 53 sts and knit 5 rows. Next row: Knit across row, increasing 4 sts along the row, evenly spaced apart (57 sts). Now work in the pattern until the sleeve measures 6¾-inches in all. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, once at each side. Decrease 1 st at each side of the work every other row, twice. Bind off all sts. Make the other sleeve the same way.

FINISHING: Sew shoulders and underarm seams. Sew sleeve up and into armhole. NECK BAND: With the right side of the work facing you, pick up and knit 65 sts around the neck edge. Knit 2 rows. Beading row: * k 2 sts tog, yarn over; repeat from * across row, ending with yarn over, k 1. Knit 1 row. Bind off all sts. Trim with ribbon.

BONNET: Cast on 85 sts and knit 5 rows. Next row: Knit across, increasing 6 sts evenly spaced apart (91 sts). Now work in the pattern until the piece measures 6-inches in all, ending with the 11th row of pattern. Knit across next row, decreasing 3 sts evenly spaced apart. 1st dec: * k 9 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row, ending with k 2 tog. Knit 1 row. 2nd dec: * k 8 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 3rd dec: * k 7 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 4th dec: * k 6, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 5th dec: * k 5, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 6th dec: * k 4, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 7th dec: * k 3, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 8th dec: * k 2 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. 9th dec: * k 1 st, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Knit 1 row. Last dec: K 2 sts together across row. Break yarn, leaving 12-inches. Thread a darning needle and draw thru the remaining sts and fasten tightly on the wrong side of the work and sew up the garter st part and one inch beyond. Fold back the 6 rows of garter st at the front of bonnet. NECK BAND: With the right side of the work facing you, starting at the front edge, pick up and knit 67 sts around the edge of bonnet. Knit 2 rows. Next row: * k 2 sts tog, yarn over; repeat from * across row, ending with yarn over, k 1. Knit 1 row. Bind off all sts.

BOOTIES: Cast on 41 sts and knit 6 rows. Now work in the pattern until 2 patterns have been completed. INSTEP: Knit 14 sts, place these sts onto a st holder; knit 13 sts and leave on the needle; place the remaining sts onto a 2nd st holder. Working on the sts that are on the needle, knit every row for 23 rows. Break yarn. Place the sts off the first st holder back onto a free needle; tie yarn in, pick up and knit 12 sts along side of instep; knit the 13 sts, pick up and knit 12 sts along 2nd side of instep; knit the 14 sts off 2nd st holder (65 sts). Knit 7 rows. 1st dec: K 2 tog, k 22 sts, k 2 tog, k 13 sts, k 2 tog, k 22 sts, k 2 tog. Knit 3 rows. 2nd dec: K 2 tog, k 20 sts, k 2 tog, k 13 sts, k 2 tog, k 20 sts, k 2 tog. Knit 2 rows. Bind off all sts. Sew up the back and sole of bootie. Make the other bootie the same way.

MITTENS: Cast on 39 sts and knit 5 rows. Next row: Knit across row, increasing 4 sts evenly spaced apart. Now work in the pattern until 3 complete patterns have been made, ending with row 12. Knit 1 row, purl 1 row. 1st dec: * K 3 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Purl 1 row. 2nd dec: * k 2 sts, k 2 tog; repeat from * across row. Purl 1 row. Bind off all sts. Break yarn, leaving 12-inches. Sew up mitten. Make the other mitten the same way.
