COATS & CLARK'S O.N.T. "SPEED-CRO-SHEEN" MERCERIZED COTTON, Art. C.44: 7 balls of No. 1 White for Sizes 12 and 14; 8 balls for Size 16.
Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 4 (3½ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 8 (5 mm. size).
GAUGE: 5 sts make 1 inch; 8 rows make 1 inch.

Directions are given for Size 12; changes for Sizes 14 and 16 are in parentheses.
BACK ... Starting at lower edge with No. 4 knitting pins, cast on 80 (86, 90) sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 3 inches. Change to No. 8 knitting pins and work in garter st (k each row) until piece measures in all 11½ (12, 12½) inches. Place a marker at both ends. Continue to work in garter st until piece measures in all 17 (18, 19) inches.
To Shape Neck: Knit across 24 (26, 28) sts, bind off next 32 (34, 34) sts, knit to end of row. Work over the last 24 (26, 28) sts only, decreasing 1 st at neck edge on next row and every other row until there remain 20 (22, 24) sts. Bind off loosely. Attach thread to other side of neck edge and work to correspond, reversing neck shaping.
FRONT ... Work exactly as for Back.
BACK NECKBAND ... With No. 4 knitting pins, pick up and knit across neck edge 64 (66, 68) sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, decreasing 1 st at both ends every other row until there remain 58 (60, 62) sts. Bind off loosely in ribbing.
FRONT NECKBAND ... Work as for Back Neckband.
Sew shoulder seams.
SLEEVES ... With right side facing and No. 8 knitting pins, pick up and knit between markers 64 (66, 68) sts. Work in garter st for 3½ (4, 4) inches. Change to No. 4 knitting pins and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 inch. Bind off loosely in ribbing.
Block to measurements. Sew up side and sleeve seams.
