1 circular knitting needle 29 inch. No. 8
1 bone crochet hook No. 6
GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch
1st row: * K 1, y.o. repeat from * across row
2nd row: * (slip 1, drop the y.o.) 8 times, insert left hand needle into the 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th st. on right hand needle and pull them over the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th st., slip the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th st. on to left hand needle and P across these 8 sts. repeat from * across row
3rd row: Work as 1st row
4th row: Work as 2nd row
5th row: K across row
6th row: P across row
7th row: K across row
8th row: P across row
Repeat these 8 rows throughout for pattern.
Cast on 536 sts. with No. 8 circular needle don't join, work back and forth in garter st. for 10 rows.
Incr. 1 st. at end of last row. Change to pattern and work even until 7 patterns are completed, then work first 4 rows of pattern. Decr. 1 st. at end of last row. Change to garter st. again and work 10 rows. Bind off loosely.
Crochet 1 row s.c. around the entire stole, working 3 s.c. in each corner st.
Insert a marker at 8th pattern from end of stole and a 2nd marker at 24th pattern. Fold pocket by bringing 1st marker up to 2nd marker, turning the first 8 patterns down as outside of pocket. (pocket has double thickness on outside)
Sew 3 sides of pocket through 3 thicknesses. Divide the width of pocket in 3 even parts and sew 2 seams. Work the other end of stole to correspond.
Find center of stole, count 10 patterns on each side of center, put a marker in. Crochet 1 row s.c. between markers, ch. 1, turn, work 1 row s.c. taking 2 sts. tog. between markers, ch. 1, turn, work 1 row s.c. taking 2 sts. tog. between markers. Fasten off. Steam lightly.
