MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 2 skeins (2 oz. skeins) of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color for Socks; 1 skein of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color for Mittens.
For the set you will need 3 skeins of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color.
5 double-pointed bone needles No. 4.
4 double-pointed bone needles No. 2.
20 small bells.

GAUGE: 6 sts make 1"; 8 rnds make 1".

Join, being careful not to twist. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1 for 1". Change to No. 4 needles and work as follows: 1st rnd: Attach main color. On 1st needle p 1 (seam st), k 10, p 1. Attach contrasting color and k 6. Pick up main color and p 1, k 1. Divide remaining sts on 2nd and 3rd needles and knit around with main color. Always twist yarns tightly around each other once when changing color, to prevent making a hole, and carry unused yarn loosely across back of work. 2nd to 7th rnds incl: Repeat 1st rnd. 8th rnd: With main color p 1, k 10, p 1. To Shape Heel: K 9, k 2 tog., k 1, turn. Sl 1, p 3, p 2 tog., p 1, turn. Sl 1, k 4, k 2 tog., k 1, turn. Sl 1, p 5, p 2 tog., p 1, turn. Discontinue contrasting color and work 4 rnds straight.

To Shape Toe: Sl 2 sts from beginning of 2nd needle onto 1st needle and sl 2 sts from end of 2nd needle onto 3rd needle. Then work as follows: 1st rnd: Work to within last 3 sts on 1st needle; k 2 tog., k 1. On 2nd needle, k 1, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., continue to knit to within last 3 sts on 2nd needle, k 2 tog., k 1. On 3rd needle k 1, sl 1, k 1, p.s.s.o., work to end. 2nd rnd: Knit around. Repeat these 2 rnds alternately until there remain 17 sts. Weave sts together; or bind off, fold and sew.
   Work other sock to correspond.
   Tie a strand of contrasting color to each bell. Work single crochet chain of varying lengths in each of five bells. Pull yarn through sock at top of cable and tie securely on wrong side.

   Work other mitten to correspond. Trim with bells as for Socks.
