MATERIALS:
J. & P. COATS KNIT-CRO-SHEEN, 2 balls of White or Ecru, or 3 balls of any color.
Milward's Casein Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 4 (3½ mm. size).

GAUGE: 5 sts make 1 inch; 7 rows make 1 inch.

Chair Back—about 11 x 16 inches
Arm Pieces—about 6 x 10 inches

Chair set is worked with double thread throughout.

CHAIR BACK … Starting at bottom, with 2 strands, cast on 84 sts. Work in garter st (k each row) for 4 rows, then work in pattern as follows: 1st row: K 3, * O, k 1, O, k 2 tog, k 1, k 2 tog. Repeat from * across, ending with k 3. 2nd and all even rows: K 3, p across to last 3 sts, then k 3. 3rd row: K 3, * O, k 3, O, sl 1, k 2 tog, p.s.s.o. Repeat from * across, ending with k 3. 5th row: K 3, * k 2 tog, k 1, k 2 tog, O, k 1, O. Repeat from * across, ending with k 3. 7th row: K 3, * sl 1, k 2 tog, p.s.s.o., O, k 3, O. Repeat from * across, ending with k 3. Repeat these 7 rows for pattern until piece measures about 11 inches ending with the 7th row of pattern. Work 4 rows of garter st and bind off.

ARM PIECES … Cast on 36 sts with 2 strands, and work as for Chair Back until piece measures about 8½ inches ending with the 7th row of pattern. Work 4 rows of garter st and bind off. Block to measurements given.
