KNITTING NEEDLES: 1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 10 – OR SIZE YOU REQUIRE TO KNIT TO GAUGE GIVEN BELOW.
1 pair "Boye" Non-Inflammable Needles, Size 8.
GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch

BACK - With size 8 needles, cast on 76 (80-84) sts.

Row 1 - wrong side-* K 2, P 2; repeat from * to end.

Repeat this row for ribbing. Work even in ribbing until 3 ¾ ins. from beg., end on right side. With size 10 needles, work stockinette st-p 1 row, k 1 row-until 11½ ins. above ribbing, end with k row. Mark for underarm.

Armholes - Bind off 4 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows; 68 (72-76) sts. P1 row.

Dec. row - K 2 tog., k to within 2 sts of end, slip, k and pass; 66 (70-74) sts. Repeat last 2 rows 3 times; 60 (64-68) sts. Work even until 8½ (9-9½) ins. above marker, end with k row.

Shoulders - Bind off 5 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows; 5 (6-7) sts at beg. of each of next 4 rows; 30 sts.

Back Neck Ribbing - Row 1 - wrong side - With size 8 needles, k 2, * P 2, k 2; repeat from * to end.

Row 2 - P 2, * k 2, p 2; repeat from * to end.

Repeat these 2 rows until there are 8 rows. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FRONT - Work same as back until 6 ¼ (6 ¾-7 ¼) ins. above marker, end with p row; 60 (64-68) sts.

Divide for Neck - K 21 (23-25) sts, place on holder for left side, k 18, place on holder for neck, k to end; 21 (23-25) sts.

NOTE: To dec., p 2 tog. at end of p rows and k 2 tog. at beg. of k rows. Dec. 1 st at neck edge every row 3 times; every 2nd row 3 times, shaping shoulder as for left side of back when armhole is same length. Take up sts of left side.

NOTE: To dec., p 2 tog. at beg. of p rows and slip, k and pass at end of k rows.

Beg. at neck edge, finish left side to correspond to right side. Do not break yarn.

FRONT NECK RIBBING - With size 8 needles, pick up and k 16 sts on left side of neck, take up and k 18 sts, pick up and k 16 sts on right side; 50 sts.

Row 1 - wrong side - Same as row 2 of back neck ribbing, continue ribbing until same number of rows as on back neck ribbing. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

SLEEVES - With size 8 needles, cast on 40 (44-48) sts. Work k 2, p 2 ribbing for 4 ins.

With size 10 needles, k 1 row, p 1 row for 8 rows.

Inc. row - Inc. 1 st in first st, k to within 2 sts of end, inc. 1 st in next st, k 1; 42 (46-50) sts. Continue stockinette st repeating inc. row every 10th row 8 times; 58 (62-66) sts. Work even until 17 ins. above ribbing, end with k row. Bind off 4 sts at beg. of each of next 2 rows; 2 sts at beg. of each of next 16 (18-20) rows. Bind off 18 sts.

FINISHING - Sew seams. Sew in sleeves with seam at underarm seam. Block.
