Jack Frost Fingering Fleece—8 1-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 1 Needles cast on 115 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 124 sts at even intervals across row. Work in pattern as follows (pattern is a multiple of 12 plus 4):
Row 1 (right side)—K 7, * P 2, K 10; repeat from * across row ending P 2, K 7.
Row 2—P 7, * K 2, P 10; repeat from * across row ending K 2, P 7.
Row 3—K 5, * P 2, K 2, P 2, K 6; repeat from * across row ending K 5.
Row 4—P 5, * K 2, P 2, K 2, P 6; repeat from * across row ending P 5.
Row 5—K 3, * P 2, K 6, P 2, K 2; repeat from * across row ending K 3.
Row 6—P 3, * K 2, P 6, K 2, P 2; repeat from * across row ending P 3.
Row 7—K 1, * P 2, K 10; repeat from * across row ending P 2, K 1.
Row 8—P 1, * K 2, P 10; repeat from * across row ending K 2, P 1.
Row 9—Repeat row 5.
Row 10—Repeat row 6.
Row 11—Repeat row 3.
Row 12—Repeat row 4.
Repeat above 12 rows until piece measures 12½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 6 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from under­arm. Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 1 Needles increasing to 39 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work as given for back until piece measures 5 in. from underarm. Work over 37 sts; place on st-holder. Bind off next 26 sts for front of neck. On remaining 37 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from under­arm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 8 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 1 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 79 sts from end to end of neckband. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 1 Needles cast on 59 sts. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles in­creasing to 64 sts. Work in pattern as given for back for 2 in., then increase 1 st at each end of the next and every 8th row thereafter to 88 sts. Work even until piece measures 18 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 6 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 20 sts remain. Bind off re­maining sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
