Chadwick's Red Heart Sock and Sweater Yarn, 3 Ply, Art. E.255, Shrink and Stretch Resist, 7 skeins (1 oz. pull-out skeins) of Black for Sizes 12 and 14; 8 skeins for Size 16.
Milwards “Phantom” Aluminum Knitting Pins or Clark's O.N.T. Plastic Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1 (2½ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size).
Buttons.

GAUGE: 7 sts make 1 inch; 9 rows make 1 inch.

NECKBAND … Starting at right front stitch holder, with right side facing, attach yarn and k 12, p 1, k across remaining sts on stitch holder, pick up and k 18 sts along right neck edge, pick up and k

Next row: P 12, * k 1, p 1. Repeat from * across to last 13 sts, k 1, p 12. Following row: K 12, * p 1, k 1. Repeat from * across to last 13 sts, p 1, k 12. Repeat the last 2 rows until neckband measures ½ inch. Make a set of buttonholes in line with previ­ous buttonholes. Continue as before until neckband measures 1 inch. Bind off.
Block to measurements. Sew side and sleeve seams and sew in sleeves. Double buttonbands matching buttonholes. Slip stitch band in place on wrong side. Work buttonhole st around button­holes. Sew on buttons to correspond with buttonholes.
