MATERIALS: Chadwick's Red Heart Knitting Worsted, 1 ball (1 oz. ball) each of Pink and Blue will make 3 toy balls … Double-pointed Bone Sock Needles, 1 set No. 3 (3 mm. size).
With Pink, cast on 12 sts. Divide sts among 3 needles, join, being careful not to twist sts and work as follows: 1st rnd: * K 1, k twice in next st. Repeat from * around (18 sts). 2nd rnd: * K 2, k twice in next st. Repeat from * around (24 sts). 3rd rnd: Repeat 1st rnd (36 sts). 4th rnd: Repeat 2nd rnd (48 sts). Now work 8 rnds straight in stockinette st (k each rnd). Break off Pink, attach Blue and work straight for 10 rnds. Break off Blue, attach Pink and work straight for 8 rnds. Now dec as follows: 1st rnd: * K 2, k 2 tog. Repeat from * around (36 sts). 2nd rnd: * K 1, k 2 tog. Repeat from * around (24 sts). 3rd rnd: Same as 1st dec rnd (18 sts). 4th rnd: Same as 2nd dec rnd (12 sts). Break off, leaving an 8-inch length. Slip remaining sts onto this length, draw together tightly and fasten securely. Stuff firmly with cotton through opening. Sew up opening.
