MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Nylon and Wool Calibrette (2 oz skein) OR Columbia-Minerva Calibar (2 oz skein) - 10(11-12-13-14) skeins

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 15 - 14 inch

Gauge: 3 ½ sts and 3 rows to 1 inch (pattern st), 3 sts and 3 rows to 1 inch (stockinette st)

1 "Boye" Aluminum Crochet Hook "H" (Size 6)

BLOCKING MEASUREMENTS:
Width across Back at underarm 19"(19 ¾"-20 ¾"-22"-23 ¾")
Width across Back from sleeve edge to sleeve edge 42"(42 ½"-43 ¾"-44 ¾"-45 ½")
Width across Each Front at underarm 11"(11 ½"-12"-12 ¼"-12 ½")
Width across Each Front from front edge to sleeve edge 22 ¼"(22 ¾" -23 ½"-23 ¾"-24")
Length from back of neck to lower edge 19 ¼"(19 ½"-20"-20 ½"-21 ¼")

PATTERN STITCH: (uneven no. of sts) Row 1 - (Right side of work) * K the second st in back of work, then K the first st as usual, sl both sts off needle, repeat from * across row, ending K 1. Row 2 - * P the second st, then P the first st, sl both sts off needle, repeat from * across row, ending P 1. Repeat these 2 rows for pattern.

BACK: Starting at lower edge, cast on 61(63-67-71-73) sts. Work in pattern st, working even for 3 inches. Next row inc 1 st each side, then every 2 inches 2 times more - 67(69-73-77-79) sts on needle. When work measures 8 ½"(8 ½"-9"-9"-9 ½") from start, To Shape Underarms and Sleeves: Cast on 2 sts at end of each of the next 2 rows, 8 sts at end of each of the next 4 rows, then cast on 22 sts at end of each of the next 2 rows - 147(149-153-157-159) sts on needle. Work even until sleeve edges measure 6 ½"(7"-7"-7 ½"-7 ½") measured straight from last cast-on sts. To Shape Sleeves and Shoulders: Bind off 10 sts at beg of each of the next 6(6-6-4-2) rows, then 11 sts at beg of next 0(0-0-2-4) rows. To Shape Back of Neck: Next row bind off 10(10-11-11-11) sts, work across next 25(26-26-26-26) sts, sl remaining sts onto st holder. Turn, bind off 4 sts, P to end of row. Working on Right Shoulder only, continue to bind off 10(11-11-11-11) sts at shoulder edge every other row 1(2-2-2-2) times more, then 11(0-0-0-0) sts once. Sl sts from st holder onto needle, bind off 17(17-19-21-21) sts at center for back of neck, then on remaining sts work Left Shoulder to correspond with Right Shoulder.

LEFT FRONT: Starting at lower edge, cast on 35(37-39-39-41) sts. Work in pattern st, working even for 3 inches. Next row inc 1 st at side edge, then every 2 inches 2(2-2-1-2) times more, then every 1 inch 0(0-0-2-0) times - 38(40-42-43-44) sts on needle. When work measures same as at Back to underarm, To Shape Underarm and Sleeve: Cast on 2 sts at side edge once, 8 sts 2 times, then 22 sts once - 78(80-82-83-84) sts on needle. When sleeve edge measures same as at Back, To Shape Sleeve, Shoulder and Neck: Bind off 10 sts at sleeve edge every other row 5(4-3-2-1) times, then 11 sts every other row 1(2-3-4-5) times AND AT THE SAME TIME when front edge measures 17 ½"(17 ½"-18 ¼"-19"-19 ½") from start, bind off 10(11-12-12-12) sts at front edge for neck shaping, then 4 sts at same edge every other row 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, then dec 1 st once. Place markers for 4 buttons at front edge, having first marker 1 ½ inches from lower edge and 4th marker 1 inch below neck edge.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond with Left Front, having incs and decs at opposite sides and working buttonholes to correspond with markers as follows: Work 4 sts, bind off 4 sts in pattern st, work to end of row. Next row cast on 4 sts over the bound-off sts.

COLLAR: Cast on 71(71-73-75-77) sts. Work even in pattern st for 3 inches, ending on wrong side of work. Next row dec 4 sts across row as follows: Work pattern st across 18 sts, K 2 tog 2 times (crossing sts as usual), work across to within last 23 sts, K 2 tog 2 times as before, work pattern to end of row. Work even for 1 ½ inches, then dec 4 sts across row the same as before. When Collar measures 6 inches from start, bind off.

COLLAR FACING: Cast on 61(61-62-65-66) sts. Work in stockinette st for 3 inches. Dec 4 sts in same manner as on Collar, work 1 ½ inches even, then dec 4 sts again. When facing measures same as Collar, bind off.

Sew shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Overcast facing to Collar on wrong side of work. Turn right side out and sew Collar to neck edge, ½ inch from each front edge. With Crochet Hook and starting at neck edge of Left Front, work 1 row of s c down left front edge, across lower edge and up right front edge, ch 1, turn and work 1 more row. Cut yarn and fasten. Turn back s c edge and 2 sts at each front edge and sew in place. Turn up s c edge and 2 rows of pattern across lower edge and sew in place. Work 2 rows of scat sleeve edges. Turn up s c edge and 2 rows of pattern and sew in place.
