Continue in this manner working in gradually widening stripes of right and wrong side of Stockinette St. The width of the stripes is decided by the number of rows (counted on the wrong side of the Stockinette St.)
Work 2 stripes of each size, with 2 more rows in each set of stripes, than in the set before.

The band of 15 sts. down each side of the front is worked in Stockinette St., with the purled side out, the entire length of the blouse.

BUTTONHOLE: Work over 6 sts. from right edge, bind off 5 sts., work across row. Next row cast on 5 sts. over the bound off sts. Work a buttonhole in this manner on this edge every 2 inches 6 more times.

At the same time, when there are 456 sts. on needle (work measures about 8 inches from start, measured straight) discontinue raglan increases. Working from buttonhole edge, work over 75 sts. (right front) and place remaining sts. on a st. holder. Working on these 75 sts., continue in pattern, working buttonholes as before and decreasing 1 st. at underarm side every ½ inch 12 times. When work measures 6½ inches from underarm, bind off.

Pick up next 90 sts. (right sleeve) from st. holder and work even in pattern for 17 inches, being careful to finish a stripe. Bind off.

Pick up next 126 sts. (back) from st. holder, and decrease 1 st. each side every ½ inch 12 times. When work measures 6½ inches from underarm, bind off. Pick up next 90 sts. from st. holder (left sleeve) and work same as right sleeve. Pick up last 75 sts. (left front) and work same as right front, omitting buttonholes. Sew underarm and sleeve seams, work beading at bottom of blouse for elastic having purled band of right front over purled band of left front.

Collar—Cast on 102 sts. and work in Stockinette St. Increase 1 st. each side every other row until work measures 3½ inches from start, bind off.

SKIRT: Starting at top, cast on 210 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Work in same pattern as blouse. Pattern on circular needle is bands of plain knitting then of plain purling. Work the first stripe of skirt 2 rows wider than the last stripe of blouse. Continue widening stripes for entire skirt. When work measures 1 inch increase by: * work 21, pick up st. below last st. just worked, and work it. Repeat from * around row (10 sts. increased in round). In each increasing round work 1 st. more between the increases than in previous increasing round. Increase in this manner every inch 6 more times. Increase every 2 inches 5 times, increase every 4 inches 2 times.

Work 6 inches even (skirt measures 31 inches) or desired length, bind off. It is advisable to finish skirt with a complete band. Right side of skirt is that side on which the bottom band is purled.

Work beading at top for elastic, work 2 rows S. C. around bottom of skirt.
