Gauge: 8 sts = 1 inch.

Entire bolero is worked in garter st (K each row), 2 rows form a ridge.

BACK: Starting at lower edge, cast on 110 sts and work in garter st for 1½ inches.
Next Row—Increase 1 st at the beginning and end of row. Then work even in garter st increasing 1 st on each side every 1½ inches until there are 118 sts on needle.
Work even until back measures 8 inches from the beginning.
Next 2 Rows—Bind off 6 sts at the beginning of each row, then decrease 1 st on each side every other row until 100 sts remain. Work even until armhole measures 7½ inches (50 ridges) from 1st decreasing point.
Next Row—K across 32 sts and place on a holder for right front. Bind off next 36 sts for back of neck. On the remaining 32 sts of left front work as follows:
1st Row—Starting at neck edge K across 11 sts, turn.
2nd Row—Y O, K across 11 sts, turn.
3rd Row—K across 11 sts, K the Y O of previous row and next st tog, K across next 10 sts, turn.
4th Row—Y O, K across 22 sts, turn.

23rd Row—K across 24 sts, K the Y O and next st tog, K and increase in next st, K across 8 sts, turn.
24th Row—K across row ending at center front (35 sts). There are 12 sts in 1st and 2nd section and 11 sts in 3rd section at armhole edge. Continue in the above manner increasing 1 st at the beginning of every 10th ridge (4th pattern) of 1st section, and 1 st in 2nd st of the 2nd and 3rd sections, until there are 18 sts in each of first 2 sections and 17 sts in 3rd section (53 sts). Discontinue the increases and work even in pattern until there are 50 ridges in 3rd section for armhole, bind off.

RIGHT FRONT: Slip the 32 sts from holder, attach Gray at neck edge and work to correspond with left front.

EDGE: With right side toward you attach Gray at neck edge, working down front, * yarn over hook, insert hook in end st of next ridge, pull loop through, yarn over hook, insert in end st of next ridge, pull loop through, yarn over hook and pull through all 5 loops at one time, ch 1, repeat from * down front, across lower edge, up opposite front and around neck line, fasten in first st, cut yarn. Attach Buttercup in ch 1 loop, slip st in same space, * ch 1, slip st in next ch 1 loop, repeat from * all around ending with ch 1, join in slip st, cut yarn. Work same edge around each armhole.
