MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART KNITTING WORSTED, 2 skeins (2 oz. skeins) of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color for Socks; 1 skein of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color for Mittens.
For the set you will need 3 skeins of main color and 1 skein of contrasting color.
5 double-pointed bone needles No. 4.
4 double-pointed bone needles No. 2.
20 small bells.

Cast on 30 sts. 1st row: P 10, k 2, p 6, k 2, p 10. 2nd row: K across. 3rd to 7th rows incl: Repeat 1st and 2nd rows alternately. 8th row: K 12, then make a cable (to make a cable, slip off next 3 sts on a stitch holder; keeping the stitch holder in back of work, k the next 3 sts, then k the 3 sts on stitch holder), k 12. Repeat these 8 rows.

Cast on a number of sts divisible by 4. 1st and 2nd rows: * K 2, p 2, repeat from * across. 3rd row: K 1, * p 2, k 2, repeat from * across, ending row with k 1.

4th row: P 1, * k 2, p 2, repeat from * across, ending row with p 1. 5th and 6th rows: * P 2, k 2, repeat from * across. 7th row: P 1, * k 2, p 2, repeat from * across, ending row with p 1. 8th row: K 1, * p 2, k 2, repeat from * across, ending row with k 1. Repeat these 8 rows.

Cast on desired num­ber of sts (divisible by 17 plus 2). 1 st row: K 1, (k 2 together) 3 times, * (o, k 1) 5 times, o, (k 2 together) 6 times; repeat from * ending with (k 2 together) 3 times, k 1. 2nd row: P across. 3rd row: K across. 4th row: P across. Repeat these 4 rows for length desired.

Cast on an odd number of sts. 1st row: K 1, p 1, and repeat ending with k 1. Repeat this row for desired length always having a knitted st over a purled st, and a purled st over a knitted st.

Cast on an odd num­ber of sts and k 1 row. 1st row: K 1, * o, k 3, sl 1st of 2 sts over other 2 sts. Repeat from * across. 2nd row: K across, knitting the o as a st. 3rd row: * K 3, sl 1st of 3 sts over the next 2 sts, o, repeat from * across ending with o, k 1. 4th row: K across, knitting the o as a st. Repeat these 4 rows.
