Cheerleader Shawl Pattern

15 x 57 Inches Without Doll Trimming

This stole can be made with any of the following:

"DAWN" or "CLOVER LEAF" NYLON
or
"DAWN" NYLON SOCK & SWEATER YARN
or
"DAWN" BRAEBURN SPORT YARN
or
"DAWN" SOCK & SWEATER YARN
5 ozs. White or color desired.
1 oz. Scarlet or any contrasting color.
1 pr. knitting needles No. 10.

GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch.

Entire stole is worked in garter st (K each row).
With White cast on 75 sts and work in garter st for 3 inches, cut White.
Attach Scarlet and K 6 rows, cut Scarlet.
Attach White and K 12 rows, cut White.
Attach Scarlet and K 6 rows, cut Scarlet.
Attach White and work even in garter st until work measures 50 inches from beginning, ending on wrong side, cut White.
Attach Scarlet and work 6 rows, cut Scarlet.
Attach White and K 12 rows, cut White.
Attach Scarlet and K 6 rows, cut Scarlet.
Attach White and work 3 inches, bind off, cut yarn.

TRIMMING: BOY: Wind Scarlet over a 2 inch card­board 40 times, tie with 6 inch length of yarn at one end for top of head. Tie securely about ½ inch from top of head for neck. With White, wind twice around and tie ¾ inch from neck for waist. Divide remaining yarn in half for legs and with Scarlet tie each section about ⅛ inch from each end, cut and trim for feet.

ARMS: Wind Scarlet over 2 inch cardboard 15 times, with Scarlet wind around twice and tie ⅛ inch from each end for hands, insert through center of body, cut and trim for hands. Work 7 more boys in same manner.

GIRL: With White work same as boy but tying the waist with Scarlet and cutting loops beneath waist for skirt. Tie to end of stole as illustrated having 4 boys and 3 girls across each short end.
