Knitted Suspender Skirt, Sweater and Jibber Pattern

Materials Required: AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" SOCK & SWEATER YARN
or
"DAWN" NYLON
1 ounce each Scarlet and White or colors of your choice
1 pair each knitting needles No. 1 and No. 3
Steel crochet hook No. 0
8 inch doll with 4½ inch waistline
8 small buttons
1 yard elastic sewing thread

SKIRT: With Scarlet and No. 3 needles cast on 39 stitches (sts). Knit (K) 1, * Purl (P) 1, K 1, repeat from * across row. Repeat 1st row twice.
4th Row. K across row increasing 12 sts evenly spaced (51 sts).
5th Row. * K 1, P 4, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
6th Row. * P 1, K 4, repeat from * across row ending with P 1.
7th Row. K 1, * P 4, increase in next st, repeat from * across row.
8th Row. * P 2, K 4, repeat from * across row ending with P 1.
9th Row. K 1, * P 4, K 2, repeat from * across row.
10th Row. Same as 8th row.
11th Row. K 1, * P 4, K 1, increase in next st, repeat from * across row.
12th Row. * P 3, K 4, repeat from * across row ending with P 1.
13th Row. K 1, * P 4, K 3, repeat from * across row. Repeat the last 2 rows once.
16th Row. Same as 12th row.
17th Row. K 1, * P 4, increase in next st, K 2, repeat from * across row.
18th Row. * P 4, K 4, repeat from * across row ending with P 1.
19th Row. K 1, * P 4, K 4, repeat from * across row. Repeat the last 2 rows 3 times. Bind off.
Sew side edges together. Using a double strand of elastic thread sew 2 rows of running sts on wrong side of seed st border.
Straps: With Scarlet and No. 1 needles cast on 3 sts.
1st Row. K 1, P 1, K 1. Repeat this row until strap measures 3½ inches.
Next Row. K 1, bind off 1 st.
Next Row. K 1, cast on 1 st over the bound off st, K 1 (buttonhole).
Next Row. K 1, P 1, K 1. Bind off. Work another strap in same manner. Sew to front of skirt as illustrated crossing straps at back and sew buttons to back of band where ends of strap reach band. Sew 2 buttons
in position on band at front as illustrated.

SWEATER: Front: With White and No. 1 needles cast on 24 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 3 rows. Change to No. 3 needles and work in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row) until front measures 2 inches from beginning.
Next Row. Work across 1st 8 sts, bind off next 8 sts, work across remaining sts.
Next Row. Work across 8 sts, attach another length of yarn and work across the other 8 sts. Work 9 rows in stockinette st across both sides.
Next Row. Work across 1st side, cast on 5 sts, take another length of yarn and cast on 5 sts for the beginning of next side, work across next side.
Work even in stockinette st across both sides (13 sts on each side), always K the last st at center on one side and 1st st at center on other side in each row until each side measures 1¾ inches from cast on sts. Change to No. 1 needles and work 3 rows in ribbing of K 1, P 1, bind off each side. With right side of work toward you pick up 48 sts around neck edge. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 2 rows, bind off.
Ribbing for Sleeves: With right side of work toward you starting 1½ inches from one end, pick up 24 sts along side of work to within 1½ inches from other end. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1 for 2 rows. Bind off in ribbing. Work ribbing for other sleeve in same manner. Sew side seams.
With right side of work toward you and steel crochet hook attach yarn at neck of right side of back, * chain (ch) 4, skip about ¼ inch space, work 4 single crochet (sc), repeat from * twice ending about ¼ inch from opposite end, ch 4, slip stitch (sl st) at end of ribbing, cut yarn. Work a row of sc up left side of back. Sew buttons in position.

JIBBER: On No. 3 needles with Scarlet cast on 32 sts and K 1, P 1 for 2 rows.
3rd Row. K l, P 1, drop Scarlet, attach White and K across row to within last 2 sts (all sts not worked leave on needle), turn.
4th Row. Slip 1st 2 sts onto needle, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row to within last 4 sts, turn, drop White.
5th Row. With Scarlet (when changing colors always pick up new color from underneath color which is dropped), K across row to within last 4 sts, turn.
6th Row. Slip 1st 4 sts onto needle, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row to within last 8 sts, turn, drop Scarlet.
7th Row. With White K across row to within last 8 sts, turn.
8th Row. Slip 1st 4 sts onto needle, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row to within last 12 sts, turn, drop White.
9th Row. With Scarlet K across row to within last 12 sts, turn.
10th Row. * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across 8 sts, drop Scarlet, slip next 4 sts onto needle, turn.
11th Row. With White K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, K across next 8 sts, K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, turn.
12th Row. Slip 1st 4 sts onto needle, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across 8 sts, slip next 4 sts onto needle, drop White, turn.
13th Row. With Scarlet K across next 16 sts, K 1, P 1, K 1, P 1, turn.
14th Row. Slip 1st 4 sts onto needle, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across 20 sts, slip next 2 sts onto needle, drop Scarlet, turn.
15th Row. With White K 1, P 1, K across next 24 sts, K 1, P 1, turn.
16th Row. Slip 1st 2 sts onto needle, * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across 24 sts, slip next 4 sts onto needle, cut White.
17th Row. With Scarlet K 1, P 1, K across next 28 sts, K 1, P 1.
18th Row. * K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row. Bind off. With Scarlet and crochet hook work tightly 2 chains each 6 inches long. Sew to ends of jibber.
