Materials Required:
AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" NYLON or "DAWN" DE LUXE FINGERING YARN
3 ounces Main Color
1 ounce each contrasting color
1 set Double Pointed Knitting Needles No. 2 OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW.
1  set of bobbins
2  stitch holders

GAUGE: 7 sts = 1 inch; 11 rows = 1 inch

Wind 2 bobbins of each color — Main Color ▢; Diamond No. 1 ▧; Diamond No. 2 ▩; Crossline No. 1 ■; Crossline No. 2 ▣.
With Main Color cast on 64 sts loosely, work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 2 inches decreasing 2 sts on last row of ribbing (62 sts), cut yarn. Work in stockinette st (K 1 row, P 1 row) and follow chart for pattern.
1st ROW: Attach color ▧ K 2, drop ▧, attach ▢ (When changing color always pick up new color from underneath color which is dropped, thus twisting yarns around each other to avoid a hole), K 13, drop ▢; at­tach ■ K 1, drop ■ ; attach ▣ K 1, drop ▣; pick up ▢ K 13, drop ▢; attach ▩ K 2, drop ▩; attach second bobbin of ▢ K 13, drop ▢; attach second bobbin of ▣ K 1, drop ▣; attach second bobbin of ■ K 1, drop ■; pick up ▢ K 13, drop ▢; attach second bobbin of  ▧ K 2, turn. Continue to follow chart until 2 diamonds have been completed ending with a P row. NEXT ROW: With Main, color K 16 sts and place on holder (1 st half of heel), work in pat­tern across 30 sts (instep), with Main Color K remaining 16 sts and place on holder (2nd half of heel), cut off bobbins on heel sts. Following the chart continue working in pattern until the 3rd diamond has been completed ending with a P row, cut off bobbins and place instep sts on holder.
HEEL: Slip the first 16 sts from holder on free needle, slip the last 16 sts from holder to same needle having the joining of heel sts at center of needle. With wrong side of work toward you attach Main color, P 1 row, K 1 row for 2½ inches ending with a P row.
TURN HEEL: Slip 1, K 17, slip 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 1, turn; Slip 1, P 5, P 2 tog, P 1, turn; Slip 1, K 6, slip 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K 1, turn; Slip 1, P 7, P 2 tog, P 1, turn. Continue in the above manner until all sts have been worked ending with a P row (18 sts on needle), cut yarn. With right side of work toward you, pick up and K 16 sts on right side of heel, K 1 8 sts of heel to same needle, pick up and K 16 sts on opposite side of heel to same needle (50 sts), turn. P 1 row. NEXT ROW: Work gusset as follows: K 1, slip 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K to within the last 3 sts, K 2 tog, K 1, turn. P 1 row. Repeat the last 2 rows until 30 sts remain on needles. Work even until heel section measures same length as instep section ending with a K row.
FOOT: Divide sts as follows: place the last 15 sts on a free double pointed needle (needle No. 1), slip the 30 instep sts on another double pointed needle (needle No. 2), place the remaining 15 sts on another double pointed needle (needle No. 3). Join work and with Main color K in rounds until foot measures 7½ inches or 2½ inches less than length desired.
DECREASE FOR TOE: 1st needle: K to within 3 sts of end of needle, K 2 tog, K 1; 2nd needle: K 1, slip 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., K to within the last 3 sts of end of same needle, K 2 tog, K 1; 3rd needle: K 1, slip 1, K 1, p.s.s.o., work to end of round. K one round even. Repeat these last 2 rounds until there are 10 sts on 2nd needle ending with needle No. 1. Slip 5 sts of needle No. 3 on needle No. 1, cut yarn leaving a length of about 12 inches. Thread yarn in blunt needle and weave toe tog. FINISHING: Fasten all ends. Sew back of sock matching the diamonds. Sew heel to side of instep.
