MATERIALS
BERNAT SHAKERSPUN (2 oz. skeins) —2
1 set BERNAT-Aero d p needles No. 10½ (Canadian Needles No. 2)
OR ANY SIZE NEEDLES THAT WILL GIVE THE STITCH GAUGE GIVEN BELOW

GAUGE: 7 sts = 2 inches

NOTE: All increases are made by knitting in the BACK of the next st of the row below.

Cast on 54 sts. Divide evenly onto 3 needles (18 sts on each needle). Join, being careful not to twist sts. K round and round in stockinette st for 7 rounds. IN­CREASE ROUND: On first needle * K 3, inc 1 st, repeat from * 3 times more, K 2, repeat from * on each needle — 66 sts. Then work as follows: Round 1: * P 3, K 8, repeat from * around. Round 2: * P 2, P 2 tog, K 6, inc 1 st, repeat from * around. Repeat the last 2 rounds 24 times more. Round 27: * P 2, P 2 tog, K 2 tog, K 5, repeat from * around. Round 28: * P 2, P 2 tog, K 5, repeat from * around. Round 29: * P 2, P 2 tog, K 4, repeat from * around. Round 30: * P 2, P 2 tog, K 3, repeat from * around. Round 31: * P 2, P 2 tog, K 2, repeat from * around. Round 32: * P 2, K 2 tog, K 1, repeat from * around. Round 33: * P 2 tog, K 2 tog, repeat from * around. Break off yarn, leaving a 12 inch end.

FINISHING: Pull end through remaining sts and draw up tightly. Sew back seam. Steam. Make a pompon and sew to center of cap.
