MATERIALS—Bear Brand Super-Spun Nylon; or
Bear Brand Wonderized De Luxe Sock and Sport Yarn, Colors A and C, 2 skeins each. Color B, 3 skeins.
Bucilla Featherlite Aluminum Knitting Needles, 1 pair each Sizes 1 and 2.

MEASUREMENTS OF GARMENT—At bustline 40 ins. Width of back at underarm 20 ins.

GAUGE: 17 sts = 2 inches; 12 rows = 1 inch

BACK—With size 1 needles and A, cast on 132 sts. Work k 2, p 2 ribbing for 4 ins.
Inc. row—K, increasing 19 sts evenly spaced across row; 151 sts.
PatternRow 1—wrong side—With size 2 needles and B, p 4; with A, p 143; join 2nd strand B, p 4. To prevent a hole when changing colors, always bring color to be used under last color used.
Row 2—K 5 B, 141 A, 5 B.
Row 3—P 6 B, 139 A, 6 B.
Row 4—K 7 B, 137 A, 7 B.

Continue to work 1 st more with B at each side and 2 sts less with A in center every row until 1 A st remains, at the same time inc. 1 st each side in the 8th row from beg. of pat. and repeat inc. every 8th row 8 times, end with k row; 169 sts. Break off A.
Next row—P 84 B, join C, p 1; p 84 B.
Next row—K 83 B; 3 C; 83 B. Con­tinue to work 1 st less with B at each side and 2 sts more with C in center every row until 7¼ ins. above ribbing, end with k row.

CAP SLEEVES—Continuing pat., cast on 8 sts at beg. of next 6 rows; 217 sts. Place marker for sleeve edge. Continue pat. increasing 1 st each side every l0th row 6 times; 229 sts. Work even until 5½ ins. above marker, end with k row.

Shoulder Shaping—Bind off 3 sts at beg. of next 10 rows; 4 sts at beg. of next 26 rows; 5 sts at beg. of next 10 rows; 45 sts.
Next row—With size 1 needles, k 2 tog., k 1, * p 2, k 2, re­peat from *, end p 2; 44 sts. Continue k 2, p 2 ribbing for 1 in. Bind off loosely in ribbing.

FRONT—Work same as back to beg. of shoulder shaping, end with k row; 229 sts.
Shape shoulder as for back until 195 sts on needle, end with p row, about 14¼ ins. above inc. row.
Next row—Bind off 4 sts, k until 84 sts from bind-off, slip on holder for left side; k 11, k 2 tog., k 10; slip these 22 sts on holder for neck; k to end.

Neck Shaping—Continue shoulder shaping as on back de­creasing 1 st at neck edge every row 4 times; every 2nd row 7 times.
Beg. at neck edge finish left side to correspond. Do not break yarn.

NECK RIBBING—With size 1 needles and C, pick up and k 29 sts on left neck edge, take up and k 22 sts of neck, pick up and k 29 sts on right neck edge; 80 sts. Work k 2, p 2 ribbing for 1 in. Bind off loosely in ribbing. Sew shoulder seams.

SLEEVE RIBBING—With size 1 needles and B, pick up and k 88 sts evenly spaced on sleeve edge. Work k 2, p 2 ribbing for 1 in. Bind off in ribbing.

NECKTIE SCARF—With size 2 needles and A, cast on 2 sts.
Row 1—K 1, p 1.
Row 2—K 1, inc. 1 st in next st; 3 sts.
Row 3—Inc. 1 st in first st, k 1, p 1; 4 sts.
Row 4—Work k 1, p 1 ribbing to within 1 st of end, inc. 1 st in last st; 5 sts.
Row 5—Inc. 1 st in first st, k 1, p 1 ribbing to end; 6 sts. Continue ribbing, increasing as in rows 4 and 5, until there are 14 sts. Work even in k 1, p 1 ribbing for 19 ins., end at longer edge; 14 sts.
First dec. row—Slip, k and pass, finish row.
2nd dec. row—Work to within 2 sts of end, p 2 tog. Repeat last 2 rows until 2 sts remain. K 2 tog. Break off.
With B, make another tie in same way.

FINISHING—Sew seams. Steam wool garment. Super-Spun Nylon does not require steaming.
