Knitting Patterns

Cardigan, Sizes 2 & 3

BACK: Using the #3 needles cast on 58 (62) sts, work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 ¼ (1 ¼) inches. Now change to the #6 needles and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ½ (8) inches in all, or as long as you want up to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 3 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side.) Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 3 times. Then work even until the armhole measures 4 ½ (5) inches above the underarm. SHOULDER SHAPING: Bind off 4 (4) sts at the beginning of the next 6 (6) rows. Bind off the remaining sts for the back of the neck.

RIGHT FRONT: Using the #3 needles cast on 30 (32) sts, and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 ¼ (1 ¼) inches. Now change to the #6 needles and start the pattern: ROW 1: K 10 (12) sts; p 2, k 4, p 2, k 12, (12) sts.(More)


Girl's Coat

COAT BACK: Using the #5 needles, cast on 130 sts. Purl 1 row. Now work in the pattern panels as follows: ROW 1: K 13, p 12, k 12, p 12, k 32, p 12, k 12, p 12, k 13. ROW 2: P 13, k 12, p 12, k 12, p 32, k 13, p 12, k 12, p 13. Repeat these 2 rows for 2 ½ inches, ending with the 2nd row. 1st dec. row: K 2 sts together; k 11, dec. 1 st in center of purl panel; k 12, p 12, k 32, p 12, k 12, dec. 1 st in purl panel, k 11, k last 2 sts together, (4 dec.). Follow the sts as they are and work until the piece measures 5 ½ inches in all. 2nd dec: P 2 sts together in center of the 4 purl panels, (4 dec). Work until the piece measures 6 inches in all. 3rd dec: P 2 sts together in center of first and last purl panels, (2 dec). Striped Cardigan

BACK: Using the #1 needles and the white yarn cast on 76 sts. P 2, k 2, for 3 rows. Tie in green yarn and work 2 rows of green ribbing, now 2 rows with the white yarn. Alternately working 2 rows of green and then white, work in ribbing for 2 inches. Now change to the #3 needles and continue in stockinette stitch still changing colors every 2 rows. Work until the piece measures 8 inches or as long as you want up to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row twice. Now work until the armhole measures 5 inches above the underarm bind off. SHOULDERS: Bind off 7 sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows; 9 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Place the remaining sts onto a st holder for back of neck. (More)


Boy's Suit

BACK: Using the #1 needles and the main color, cast on 72 sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 2 inches. Change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch for 1 ½ inches, ending with a purl row. Next row: Tie in blue yarn, k 1 blue; yarn to back, * k 4 white, k 4 blue; repeat from * across row, ending with k 1 blue. 2nd row: P 1 blue, yarn to front; * p 4 white, p 4 blue; repeat from * across row, ending with p 1 blue. Repeat these 2 rows twice more. 7th row: K 5 blue, yarn to back; * k 4 white, k 4 blue, repeat from * across row ending with k 5 blue. 8th row: P 5 blue, yarn to front; * p 4 white, p 4 blue, repeat from * across row, ending with p 5 blue. Repeat row 7 and 8, twice more. These 12 rows form the pattern. Continue until 5 boxes have been made. Break off blue yarn. With the white, work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ¾ inches in all. (More)


Cabled Pull Over

BACK: Using the #2 needles cast on 81 sts. Work in pattern as follows: Row 1: (wrong side) * k 1, p 3, repeat from * across row, ending with k 1. Row 2: (right side) * p 1, k 3, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1. Row 3: Repeat row 1. Row 4: * p 1, knit the 3rd st through the front and leave on the needle, knit the first st, then the 2nd, slip the 3rd st off left hand needle, (baby cable); repeat from * across row ending with p 1. Repeat these 4 rows for the pattern. Work until the band measures 2 ½ inches. Now change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch (k 1 row, p 1 row) until the piece measures 7 ½ inches or as long as you need up to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 3 times. Snowtime Cardigan

BACK: Using the #2 needles cast on 73 sts and work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 2 inches. Change to the #5 needles and work as follows: Row 1: * p 1, k 1, p 1, k 11, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1, k 1, p 1. Row 2: * p 1, k 1, p 1, p 11, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1, k 1, p 1. Repeat these last 2 rows 14 times more, (16 rows in all). Rows 17-18-19-20-21-22: * P 1, k 1, repeat from * across row, ending with p 1. (Note: These 22 rows form the block pattern). Work until the piece measures 9 inches or as long as you need up to the under-arm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind 3 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Striped Pull Over

BACK: Using the #1 needles and the while yarn cast on 72 sts, Work in ribbing of p 2, k 2 for 3 rows. Tie in the green yarn and work in ribbing for 2 rows. Work 2 rows of white in the ribbing. Work these last 4 rows alternately for 1 ½ inches. Change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch still changing the colors every 2 rows until the piece measures 7 ½ inches in all.

UNDERARM: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every row twice, (68 sts). Work even until the armhole measures 4 ½ inches above the underarm bind off. SHOULDERS: Bind off 7 sts at the beginning of the next 6 rows. Place the remaining sts onto a st holder for the back of neck. (More)


Pull Over

PULL OVER BACK: Using the #1 needles, cast on 74 (80) sts; work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 ½ (2) inches. Now change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ½ (8 ½) inches. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every knit row 2 (3) times. Now work even until the armhole measures 4 (4 ½) inches above the underarm. SHOULDER SHAPING: Bind off 8 (9) sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows, 16 (18) sts for each shoulder. Place the remaining sts onto a stitch holder.

FRONT: Work as the back until the armhole measures 3 (3 ¼) inches above the underarm shaping. NECK SHAPING: Work over 20 (22) sts, leave on the needle; place the next 26 (26) sts onto a st holder, for center of neck; (More)


Cardigan

CARDIGAN BACK: Using the #1 needles, cast on 74 (80) sts; work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 ½ (2) inches. Now change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ½ (8 ½) inches. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side), Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every knit row 2 (3) times. Now work even until the armhole measures 4 (4 ½) inches above the underarm. SHOULDER SHAPING: Bind off 8 (9) sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows, 16 (18) sts for each shoulder. Place the remaining sts onto a stitch holder.

FRONT: Using the #1 needles cast on 40 (44) sts; work as follows: Row 1: K 2, p 4, k 2, (border); * p 1, k 1, repeat from * across row. Cabled Suit

SWEATER BACK: Using the #1 needles, cast on 92 sts. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 2 inches. Now change to the #2 needles and work as follows: PATTERN: Row 1: K 11 sts, * p 2, k 6, p 2, k 10; repeat from * across row, ending with k 11 sts. ROW 2: P 11 sts, * k 2, p 6, k 2, p 10; repeat from * across row, ending with p 11 sts. ROW 3: Repeat row 1. ROW 4: Repeat row 2. ROW 5: Repeat row 1. ROW 6: Repeat row 2. ROW 7: Repeat row 1. ROW 8: Repeat row 2. ROW 9: K 11 sts, * p 2, slip the next 3 sts onto a dble point needle and hold in back of work, knit the next 3 sts, knit the 3 sts off the dble point needle (cable); p 2, k 10; repeat from * across row, ending with k 11 sts. ROW 10: P 11 sts, * k 2, p 6, k 2, p 10; repeat from * across row, ending with p 11. Repeat these 10 rows for the pattern. (More)


Slip Over

BACK: Using the #1 needles cast on 82 sts and work in ribbing of k 2, p 2 for 2 inches. Change to the #3 needles and work as follows: Row 1: K 40 sts, p 2, k 40 sts. Row 2: P 40 sts, k 2, p 40 sts. Row 3: K 38 sts, p 2, k 2, p 2, k 38 sts. Row 4: P 38 sts, k 2, p 2, k 2, p 38 sts. Row 5: K 36 sts, p 2, k 6, p 2, k 36 sts. Row 6: P 36 sts, k 2, p 6, k 2, p 36 sts. Row 7: K 34 sts, p 2, k 10, p 2, k 34 sts. Row 8: P 34 sts, k 2, p 10, k 2, p 34 sts, Row 9: K 32 sts, p 2, k 14, p 2, k 32 sts. Row 10: P 32 sts, k 2, p 14, k 2, p 32. Continue in the above manner shifting 2 sts on each side until the purl sts reach the sides. Then continue in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ½ inches in all, or as long as you want up to the underarm. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every other row 3 times. Then work even until the armhole measures 4 ¾ inches above the underarm. Crochet Patterns

Crocheted Cardigan, Sizes 3 & 4

PATTERN: Row 1: Pick up 1 loop in each upright stitch, leaving loops on hook, across row. Row 2: Yarn over hook and pull through 1 loop, * yarn over hook and pull through 2 loops; repeat from * across row. Repeat rows 1 and 2, three times more. Row 9: (Tie in red yarn). Chain 2, pick up 1 loop in 2nd chain from hook and in first, 2nd and 3rd upright afghan sts, (5 loops on hook); yarn over hook and pull through all loops; chain 1, (this forms eye of star stitch); * pick up 1 loop in eye of star st, pick up 1 loop on side of star stitch, pick up 1 loop in each of the next 2 upright afghan sts, (5 loops on hook); yarn over and pull through all loops; chain 1; repeat from * across row. Ch 2, turn. ROW 10: Make 1 h d c in eye of first star stitch, make 2 h d c in each eye of star st across row; 1 h d c in top of turning ch. Note: Carry the colors along the edge. (More)


Crocheted Cardigan

BACK: Using the #6 hook, make a chain of 57 sts. Foundation row: Pick up 1 loop in each chain, leaving the loops on hook, (57 loops). ROW 1: Yarn over hook and pull through 1 loop, * yarn over hook and pull through 2 loops; repeat from * across row. ROW 2: Pick up 1 loop in each upright stitch, leaving the loops on the hook, across row. Repeat these 2 rows for the pattern. Work until the piece measures 10 inches, or as long as you want up to the underarm, ending with row 1. UNDERARM SHAPING: Slip st over 3 sts; pick up loops across row to within last 3 sts; work back taking off the loops. Decrease 1 st at each side of the work as follows: At the start of the row, draw yarn through the 2nd and 3rd upright sts at the same time as one stitch and do the same with the 2nd and 3rd sts at the end of row. Work back. Repeat decrease at each side, twice more. Then work even until the armhole measures 5 inches above the underarm. Slip st across row to bind off. (More)
