REQUIREMENTS:

YARN: 4-ounces of 3-ply Sport Yarn

NEEDLES: 1-pr, #1 single pointed; 1-pr. #3 single pointed

GAUGE: 7 sts to an inch. 9 rows to an inch.

PULL OVER BACK: Using the #1 needles, cast on 74 (80) sts; work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 1 ½ (2) inches. Now change to the #3 needles and work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 ½ (8 ½) inches. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 2 (3) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows, (once at each side). Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every knit row 2 (3) times. Now work even until the armhole measures 4 (4 ½) inches above the underarm. SHOULDER SHAPING: Bind off 8 (9) sts at the beginning of the next 4 rows, 16 (18) sts for each shoulder. Place the remaining sts onto a stitch holder.

FRONT: Work as the back until the armhole measures 3 (3 ¼) inches above the underarm shaping. NECK SHAPING: Work over 20 (22) sts, leave on the needle; place the next 26 (26) sts onto a st holder, for center of neck; the remaining sts onto another st holder for 2nd shoulder. Working on the sts that are on the needle; decrease 1 stitch at the neck edge every knit row 4 (4) times. When the armhole measures the same as the back. From the armhole edge bind off 8 (9) sts twice. Break yarn. Place the sts of the 2nd shoulder off st holder onto the needle and work to correspond.

LONG SLEEVES: Using the #1 needles, cast on 48 sts, (both sizes). Work in ribbing for 1 ½ (2) inches. Change to the #3 needles and on the next knit row, increase 8 (12) sts, evenly spaced apart. Work in stockinette stitch until the piece measures 7 (8) inches in all. UNDERARM SHAPING: Bind off 4 (5) sts at the beginning of the next 2 rows. Decrease 1 stitch at each side of the work every knit row until 28 (30) sts remain on the needle. Decrease 1 st at each side of the work every row 3 (4) times. Bind off all sts. Make the other sleeve the same way.

NECK BANDS: On the back, place the sts from st holder onto the needle. Using the #1 needles work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for a ½ inch. Bind off very loosely. Front: With the right side of the work facing you, pick up and knit 54 sts; work in ribbing for a ½ inch. Bind off.

FINISHING: Sew shoulder, side and sleeve seams. Sew sleeves into armhole matching the underarm seams.
