MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART BABY WOOL, 3 balls (¾ oz. balls) for either size.
Milward's Casein Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 2 (2¾ mm. size) and 1 pair No. 3 (3 mm. size).
2 buttons.

GAUGE: 7½ sts make 1 inch; 10 rows make 1 inch.

BACK … Starting at crotch, with No. 3 needles cast on

Work in stockinette stitch, casting on 2 sts at end of each row until there are on needle

FRONT … Work as for Back to top of ribbing at waist. Bind off 12 sts at beginning of next 2 rows.

Bib … Change to No. 3 needles and work as follows: 1st row: With right side facing (k 2, p 2) 3 times, knit

Repeat these 2 rows alternately for 3 inches. Now work entire row in ribbing for 6 rows: Next row: (K 2, p 2) 3 times. Bind off next

Change to No. 2 needles and work in ribbing across remaining 12 sts for 12"

Make a buttonhole 5 sts in from edge—to make a buttonhole, on one row bind off 2 sts; on next row cast on 2 sts to replace those bound off. Work 4 rows straight.  Bind off. Work other strap to correspond.

FINISHING … Sew side seams. With right side facing, using No. 2 needles, pick up along leg opening

Sew crotch seam. Sew on buttons 1½ inches in from side seams. Press lightly through damp cloth.
