Jack Frost Knitting Worsted—5 4-oz.  Hanks
Starting  at neck, with No. 4 Circular Needle, cast on 80 sts. Work as follows: 
     Row 1—Purl. 
     Row 2—K.  10 (front), increase in each of the next 2 sts. (seam sts.), K. 10 (sleeve),  increase in each of the next 2 sts. (seam sts.), K. 32 (back), increase in each  of the next 2 sts. (seam sts.), K. 10 (sleeve), increase in each of the next 2  sts. (seam sts.), K. 10.
     Row 3—and  all uneven rows—Purl.
     Row 4—K.  1, increase in the next st., K. 9, increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 12,  increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 34, increase in each of the next 2  sts., K. 12, increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 9, increase in the next  st., K. 1.
     Row 6—K.  1, increase in the next st., K. 11, increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 14,  increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 36, increase in each of the next 2  sts., K. 14, increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 11, increase in the next  st., K. 1.
   Continue  increasing in the above manner until there are 25 sts. on each front, excluding  the seam sts. Then discontinue the 1st and last increase, continuing to  increase on the seam sts. as before. Keeping the 1st and last 4 sts. K. on the  P. side, continue to work until raglan seam measures 11 in. Starting on right  side of garment, K. across to 1st sleeve seam. Leave sts. on circular Needle.  With No. 4 straight Needles, K. across the sleeve to second seam. Leaving the  remaining sts. on circular Needle, work 2 in. even on sleeve. Decrease 1 st. at  each end every in. 10 times. Work even until sleeve measures 18 in., or desired  length from underarm. Change to No. 2 Needles, decreasing to 46 sts. at even  intervals across the row. Work in ribbing of K. 2, P. 2, for 3½ in. Bind off.  Attach yarn at underarm, and K. across on circular Needle to 3rd raglan seam.  With straight Needles, work other sleeve to correspond. Attach yarn at  underarm, and work across remaining sts. to front edge. P. back, joining  garment at underarm, always keeping the 1st and last 4 sts. K. on the P. side.  On the next row bind off for pocket as follows: K. 16, bind off 27 sts., work  across row. P. back, casting on 27 sts. over the 27 bound off sts. Work back  and forth in stockinette st. until piece measures 10 in. or desired length from  underarm. Change to No. 2 Needles. K. 2, P. 2, for 4 in. Bind off. 
COLLAR: With No. 4 Needles pick up 34 sts. across the back of neck. Work back and forth in stockinette st., picking up 6 sts. at end of each row until 82 sts. have been picked up from end to end of neckband. Work back, keeping the 1st and last 4 sts. K. on the P. side, and increasing 1 st. before and after the 4 K. sts. at each end every other row until collar measures 2¾ in. K. 8 rows. Bind off loosely.
POCKET: With No. 4 Needles pick up 27 sts. across upper edge of pocket, K. 1 row, P. 1  row for 4½ in. Bind off. Sew to underneath side of sweater. With No. 4 Needles  pick up 27 sts. across lower edge of pocket. Work in garter st. for 8 rows.  Bind off.
   Sew  zipper in place at front opening.
  Sew  sleeve seams.
BOYS' SIZES 
   Size: 4 to 6 (sizes 8 to 10 and 12  yr. in parenthesis)
Starting  at neck, with No. 4 Circular Needle, cast on 56 sts. (8 to 10 yr.—65 sts.) (12  yr.—77 sts.). Work as follows:
     Row 1—K.  3, purl across row, ending K. 3.
     Row 2—K.  11 (8 to 10 yr.—13 sts.) (12 yr.—16 sts.) (front), increase in each of the next  2 sts., (seam sts.), K. 3 (8 to 10 yr.—K. 4) (12 yr.—K. 6) (sleeve), increase  in each of the next 2 sts. (seam sts.), K. 20 (8 to 10 yr.—K. 23) (12 yr.— K.  25) (back), increase in each of the next 2 sts. (seam sts.), K. 3 (8 to 10  yr.—K. 4) (12 yr.—K. 6) (sleeve), increase in each of the next 2 sts. (seam  sts.), K. 11 (8 to 10 yr.—K. 13) (12 yr.—K. 16) (front).
     Row 3—and  all uneven rows—Purl, always knitting the 1st and last 3 sts.
     Row 4—K.  12 (8 to 10 yr.—14) (12 yr.—17), increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 5 (8  to 10 yr.—6) (12 yr.—8), increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 22 (8 to 10  yr.—25) (12 yr.— 27), increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 5 (8 to 10 yr.—6)  (12 yr.—8), increase in each of the next 2 sts., K. 12 (8 to 10 yr.—14) (12  yr.—17).
Continue  increasing in the above manner until raglan seam measures 8 in. (8 to 10 yr.—9  in.) (12 yr.—10 in.), or desired length. Starting on right side of garment, K.  across to 1st sleeve seam. Leave sts. on circular Needle. With No. 4 straight  Needles, K. across sleeve to 2nd seam. Leave remaining sts. on circular Needle.  Work 5 rows even. Decrease 1 st. at each end every 6th row 6 times, or until  sleeve is desired width. Work even to desired length. Change to No. 2 Needles,  decreasing to 36 sts. (8 to 10 yr.—40 sts.) (12 yr.—44 sts.) at even intervals  across the row. K. 2, P. 2, for 2½ in. Bind off. Attach yarn at underarm, and  work across on circular Needle to 3rd raglan seam. With straight Needles, work  other sleeve to correspond.
Attach  yarn at underarm, and work across remaining sts. to front edge. P. back, joining  garment at underarm, always keeping the 1st and last 3 sts. K. on the P. side.  Work even in stockinette st. until piece measures desired length from underarm.  Change to No. 2 Needles. K. 2, P. 2, for 4 in. Bind off.
POCKET: If pocket is desired, bind off as directed in man's sweater, centering the pocket, and having 10 less sts. for sizes 4 to 6, 8 less sts. for sizes 8 to 10, and 6 less sts. for size 12. Work pocket as described for man's.
COLLAR: With No. 4 Needles, on wrong side of garment, pick up 22 sts. (8 to 10 yr.—25  sts.) (12 yr.—27 sts.) across back of neck. Work back and forth in stockinette  st., picking up 4 sts. at end of each row until 58 sts. (8 to 10 yr.—67 sts.)  (12 yr.—79 sts.) have been picked up from end to end of neckband. Work back  and forth in stockinette st., keeping the 1st and last 3 sts. K. on the P.  side, increasing 1 st. before and after the 3 K. sts. at each end every other  row until collar measures 2½ in. K. 6 rows even. Bind off. Sew zipper in place  at front opening.
   Sew  sleeve seams.
