Jack Frost Fingering Fleece—6 1-oz. Balls

BACK: With No. 2 Needles cast on 121 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 4 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 135 sts at even intervals across row. Work in pattern as follows:
Row 1—Knit. Row 2—Purl. Row 3—P 3, * K 3, P 3; repeat from * across row. Row 4—K 3, * P 3, K 3; repeat from * across row. Row 5—Repeat Row 3. Row 6—Re­peat Row 4. Row 7—Knit. Row 8—Purl. Row 9—Repeat Row 4. Row 10—Repeat Row 3. Row 11—Repeat Row 4. Row 12— Repeat Row 3. Repeat above 12 rows until piece measures 12 in. from lower edge. Bind off 10 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 9 times. Work even until piece measures 10 in. from underarm. Bind off 10 sts at beginning, of each of next 6 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 2 Needles increasing to 41 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as given for back starting with the 7th row of pattern instead of Row 1 as on back. When piece meas­ures 7 in. from underarm, work as follows: work over 38 sts; place on st.-holder. Bind off next 21 sts for front of neck. On remaining 38 sts, work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 8 times. Work even until piece measures 10 in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 10 sts every other row 3 times. Work other side to correspond,

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 2 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 89 sts from shoulder to shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Sew shoulder seams.

ARMHOLE BANDS: With No. 2 Needles on right side of gar­ment, pick up 181 sts from end to end of armhole. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 8 rows. Bind off. Sew underarm seams.
