Soaker Pattern

Soakers—used instead of rubber pants are becoming more popularnot airtight, they minimize scalding and when made of Enterprise Cotton Yarn may be boiled to sterilize as required by modern medical practice.

Three balls of yarn will make two pair of average size. To add a colorful touch make the cord at the waist line in baby pink or blue.
Needles—Boye Steel No. 3. Steel Crochet Hook No. 1.

Cast on 40 sts. K 2, p 2 for 1 inch. Make eyelet row for cord as follows: * k 2, y o, k 2 together, repeat from * across. K 2, p 2 for 1 inch. Knit 4½ inches in Garter Stitch (knit both sides of work). K 2, p 2 for 7 inches. Knit 4½ inches in Garter Stitch. K 2, p 2 for 1 inch. Make eyelet row for cord same as above. K 2, p 2 for 1 inch. Bind off loosely. Sew up the sides to the 7 inches of ribbing.

CORD: Crochet a ch 29 in. long. Make 1 sl st in each st of chain.

TASSEL: Make 6 wraps around a card 4 inches long, tie in center and fasten to end of cord. Cut loop ends to make tassel. Put a tassel on each end of the cord. Run through eyelets.
