Size 6 Months Materials—Fleisher’s Wonderized Babyfair, 3 balls; or Fleisher’s Baby Zephyr, 3-fold, 3 balls. White Knitting Needles, 1 pair Size 1. White Crochet Hook, Size 1. Gauge: 8 sts = 1 inch 16 rows = 1 inch Back—Cast on 72 sts. Work k 1, p 1 ribbing for 1 ½ ins. Work garter st (k every row) for 4 ½ ins. Cast on 40 sts at beginning of next 2 rows for sleeves; 152 sts. Work 3 ¼ ins. Next row—K 62 sts and slip on holder for sleeve and right front; bind off next 28 sts for back of neck; work to end. Left Front—Work 5 rows even. Next row, k 2, k into front, then into back of next st (inc.), k to end. K 1 row. Repeat inc. on 3rd st from neck edge every 2nd row until 3 ¼ ins. from back of neck. Bind off 40 sts of sleeve. Continue to inc. at front edge every 2nd row until there are 80 sts on needle. Work even until same length as back to ribbing. Dec. row--* K 10, k 2 tog; repeat from *, end k 8; 74 sts. Work ribbing as on back. Bind off in ribbing. Right Front—Take up sts from holder. Beginning at neck edge, k 5 rows. Next row, k to within 4 sts of neck edge, inc. 1 st in next st, k to end. Continue to correspond to left front, increasing 1 st in 4th st from neck edge, working dec. row at top of ribbing; 74 sts. Work 2 rows ribbing. Buttonhole row—K 1, p 1, k 1, yo, k 2 tog, work ribbing to within 4 sts of end, yo, p 2 tog, k 1, p 1. Continue ribbing for 1 in. Repeat buttonhole row. Complete ribbing, bind off as on left front. Cuffs—With right side toward you, pick up and k 52 sts on end of sleeve. Work ribbing for ¾ in. Bind off as before. Finishing—Sew seams. Beginning at lower edge of right front, work 1 row sc around entire neck edge, end at lower edge of left front, keeping work flat. Fasten off. Steam lightly.
