MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) - 4(5-5-6) skeins

OR

Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) - 16(18-20-22) ozs

Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 5 and 8 - 14 inch
Gauge: 9 sts to 2 inches; 7 rows to 1 inch (pat st - Size 8 needles)
1 "Boye" Aluminum Crochet Hook "F" (Size 3 or 4)

PATTERN STITCH: (Even no. of sts) Rows 1 and 2: P. Row 3: K. Rows 4 and 5: P. Rows 6, 7 and 8: K 2, *yo, K 2 tog, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 8 rows for pat.

BACK: With Size 5 needles cast on 69(75-79-83) sts. Work in ribbing as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) K 1, *P 1, K 1, repeat from * across row. Row 2: P 1, *K 1, P 1, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 2 rows for 2 ½ inches, ending with Row 1, inc'ing 9 sts evenly across last row - 78(84-88-92) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat. When work measures 12 ½”(13”-13”-13 ½”), or desired length from start to underarm, To Shape Raglan Armholes: Dec 1 st each side every other row 27(29-31-32) times. Sl rem 24(26-26-28) sts onto st holder for back of neck.

LEFT FRONT: With Size 5 needles cast on 39(41-45-47) sts. Work in ribbing same as on Back, ending with Row 1, inc'ing 5 sts evenly across last row - 44(46-50-52) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat. When work measures same as Back to underarm, To Shape Raglan Armhole: Dec 1 st at side edge every other row 27(29-31-32) times AND AT THE SAME TIME when there are 23(23-25-26) sts on needle, To Shape Neck: Sl 9(9-11-12) sts at front edge onto st holder, then bind off 2 sts at same edge every other row 4 times. Place markers for buttons at front edge as follows: Place first marker 1 ¼ inches from start, place second marker at center of 2nd St St stripe after ribbing, then in every other St St stripe 6(6-6-7) times more. On Sizes 14 and 16 only there will be another button on neckband.

RIGHT FRONT: Work to correspond with Left Front, having decs at opposite sides and working buttonholes to correspond with markers as follows: (Right side of work) Work 2 sts, bind off next 3sts, work to end of row. Next row cast on 3 sts over the bound-off sts.

SLEEVES: With Size 5 needles cast on 51(55-59-61) sts. Work in ribbing same as on Back, ending with Row 1, inc'ing 11 sts evenly across last row - 62(66-70-72) sts on needle. Change to Size 8 needles and work in pat. When work measures 13”(13”-13 ½”-13 ½”), ending on same row as Back and Fronts, To Shape Raglan Cap of Sleeve: Dec 1 st each side every other row 27(29-31-32) times. Sl rem 8 sts onto st holder.

Sew Sleeves to armholes of Fronts and Back. Sew underarm and sleeve seams.

NECKBAND: On right side of work with Size 5 needles pick up and K 77(79-87-93) sts around neck edge, including sts on st holders. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 5 rows, on Sizes 14 and 16 only work another buttonhole as before on Row 2 of ribbing. Bind off in ribbing.

Work 1 row of sc at front edges. Face front edges with grosgrain ribbon, working around buttonholes.
