These directions are for Size 12. Changes for Sizes 14, 16 and 18 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Skylark Sports Yarn (2 oz skein) - 7(8-8-9) skeins

Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 4 and 6 - 14 inch, 1 "Boye" circular needle Size 4 - 24 inch and 1 "Boye" cable needle

Gauge: 1 pattern (9 sts) to 1 ¼ inches; 8 rows to 1 inch (Size 6 needles)

PATTERN STITCH: (Multiple of 9 sts plus 3) Row 1: (Right side of work) P 3, *K 1, yo, K 2 tog, K 3, P 3, repeat from * across row. Row 2: K 3, *P 6, K 3, repeat from * across row. Row 3: P 3, *K 6, P 3, repeat from * across row. Row 4: Same as Row 2. Row 5: (Cable and Twist Row) P 3, *skip 1 st, K in front of next st, then K the skipped st, sl both sts off needle (twist), sl next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in back of work, K next 2 sts, then K the 2 sts from cable needle (cable twist), P 3, repeat from * across row. Row 6: Same as Row 2. Row 7: P 3, *K 3, K 2 tog, yo, K 1, P 3, repeat from * across row. Rows 8, 9 and 10: Repeat Rows 2, 3 and 2. Row 11: (Cable and twist row) - P 3, *twist cable on next 4 sts, work twist on next 2 sts, P 3, repeat from * across row. Row 12: Same as Row 2. Repeat these 12 rows for pat.

BACK: With Size 4 needles cast on 102(106-110-114) sts. Work in ribbing as follows: Row 1: K 2, *P 2, K 2, repeat from * across row. Row 2: P 2, *K 2, P 2, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 2 rows 2 times more, inc'ing 14(14-16-20) sts evenly across last row - 116(120-126-134) sts on needle. Change to Size 6 needles and start pat as follows: Row 1: (Right side of work) P 1(P 3 - K 3, P 3 - P 1), *K 1, yo, K 2 tog, K 3, P 3, repeat from * across, ending P 1 (0 - K 3 – P 1). Row 2: K 1(K 3 - P 3, K 3 - K 1), *P 6, K 3, repeat from * across, ending K 1(0 - P 3 - K 1). Continue pat, starting and ending rows in this manner. When work measures 14 ½”(14 ½”-15”-15”), or desired length from start to underarm, To Shape Armholes: Bind off 7(7-7-8) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 4 times - 94(98-104-110) sts on needle. When armholes measure 7 ½”(8”-8”-8 ½”), measured straight from bound-off sts at underarm, To Shape Shoulders: Bind off 8(9-10-11) sts at beg of next 4(6-6-6) rows, then on Size 12 only bind off 9 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem 44 sts for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back until work measures 13”(13 ½”-14”-14 ½”) from start, ending on wrong side of work. To Shape Front Opening: Work across 36(38-41-45) sts, sl these sts onto st holder, bind off next 44 sts, then on rem 36(38-41-45) sts work Right Front as follows: Work even until work measures same as Back to underarm. To Shape Armhole: Bind off 7(7-7-8) sts at side edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row 4 times - 25(27-30-33) sts on needle. When armhole measures same as at Back, To Shape Shoulder: Bind off 8(9-10-11) sts at armhole edge every other row 2(3-3-3) times, then on Size 12 only bind off 9 sts at same edge once. Work Left Front to correspond.

SLEEVES: With Size 4 needles cast on 48(48-52-52) sts. Work in ribbing of K 2, P 2, for 3 inches, inc'ing 18(18-14-14) sts evenly across last row - 66 sts on needle. Change to Size 6 needles and work in pat. Working added sts in pat, inc 1 st each side every 10th(8th-6th-6th) row 8(10-6-14) times, then on Size 16 only every 8th row 6 times more - 82(86-90-94) sts on needle. When work measures 17”(17”-17 ½”-17 ½”), or desired length from start to underarm, To Shape Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 7 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row until 34(36-42-44) sts rem. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 6 (6-8-8) rows. Bind off rem sts.

Sew shoulder seams.

COLLAR: With circular needle, on right side of work, starting at lower right neck edge, pick up and K 68 sts to shoulder seam, 46 sts across back of neck and 68 sts from shoulder to lower left neck edge - 182 sts on needle. Working back and forth, work as follows: Sl first st, *K 1 through back of next st, P in base of next st (under the double loop of previous row), repeat from * across, ending K 1. Repeat this row for pat. When work measures 4 ½ inches from picked-up sts, with Size 6 needle bind off in ribbing.

Sew Sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Sew lower edge of Collar in place, having left side as underlap.
