These directions are for Size 12. Changes for Sizes 14, 16 and 18 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Knitting Worsted (4 oz skein) Dark Color (DC)-2(2-3-3) skeins, Light Color (LC)-2(2-3-3) skeins

OR

Columbia-Minerva Calypso Germantown Knitting Worsted (2 or 4 oz skein) Dark Color (DC)-8(1012-14) ozs, Light Color (LC)-8(10-12-14) ozs

Knitting Needles: 1 pair each "Boye" Sizes 6, 8 and 10-14 inch
Gauge: 9 sts to 2 inches; 6 rows to 1 inch (St St-Size 8 needles) and 6 sts to 1 inch; 6 rows to 1 inch (Size 6 needles-Collar)
1 "Boye" Steel Crochet Hook Size 0

BACK: With DC and Size 10 needles cast on 72(76-80-84) sts. Join LC and work as follows: Row 1: (Wrong side of work) With LC - *P 1, with yarn in front of work sl 1 as if to P, repeat from * across row. Row 2: With LC - *With yarn in back of work sl 1 as if to P, K 1, repeat from * across row. Row 3: With DC - *Sl 1, P 1, repeat from * across row. Row 4: With DC - *K 1, sl 1, repeat from * across row. Repeat these 4 rows 3 times more. Break DC strand. Change to Size 8 needles and with LC work in St St for 10 rows, starting with a P row, inc'ing 1 st each side on 4th row. Change to Size 10 needles, join DC and work 16 rows in stripe pat as before, starting with Row 3. Repeat the St St panel with incs and the stripe pat until the 4th St St panel from start has been completed, then work 8 rows in stripe pat - work should measure about 14 ½ inches from start - 80(84-88-92) sts on needle. To Shape Armholes: Continuing in stripe pat and St St as before, omitting incs, bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 4 times - 64(68-72-76) sts on needle. When armholes measure 8”(8”-8 ½”-9’), measured straight from bound-off sts at underarm, To Shape Shoulders: Bind off 6(7-7-7) sts at beg of next 2 (6-4-2) rows, then bind off 7(0-8-8) sts at beg of next 4(0-2-4) rows. Bind off rem 24(26-28-30) sts for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back until armholes measure 5”(5 ½”-6”-6 ½”), measured straight - 64(68-72-76) sts on needle. To Shape Neck: Work across 25(26-27-28) sts, sl these sts onto st holder, bind off next 14(16-18-20) sts and work Right Front on rem 25(26-27-28) sts. Dec 1 st at neck edge every other row 5 times. When armhole measures same as at Back, To Shape Shoulder: Bind off 6(7-7-7) sts at armhole edge every other row 1(3-2-1) times, then bind off 7(0-8-8) sts 2(0-1-2) times. Sl sts from st holder onto needle and work Left Front to correspond with Right Front.

SLEEVES: With DC and Size 10 needles cast on 44 (46-48-50) sts. Work stripe pat and the 10 rows of St St until 3 St St panels are completed, then work 8 rows of stripe pat AND AT THE SAME TIME when work measures 1 ½ inches from start, inc 1 st each side, then inc 1 st each side every 8th row 8 times more - 62(64-66-68) sts on needle. To Shape Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 4 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 17 (18-19-20) times. Bind off 2 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off rem 12 sts.

COLLAR: (Make 2 pieces) With DC and Size 6 needles cast on 105(107-109-111) sts. Work in ribbing of P 1, K 1. Work 2 rows even, then dec 1 st each side every other row 18 times, then every row 5 times. Bind off rem 59(61-63-65) sts.

Sew shoulder seams. Sew Sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams, being careful to match stripes. Join the 2 pieces of Collar at dec edges, then sew to neck edge, having points at center front and center back as illustrated. With DC work 1 row of sc around lower edge of Slip over and Sleeves.
