Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" GERMANTOWN TYPE WOOL, OR
"DAWN" ZEPHYR WOOL, "DAWN" KNITTING WORSTED, OR
"DAWN" KNITTING WOOL
24 ½-oz. Balls White or Colors.
1 Pr. each of No. 3 and 4 Bone Knitting Needles.

Gauge–10 sts = 2 inches. 18 rows = 2 inches.

PATTERN. 1st Row–K 2, P 2, K 2, P 4.
2nd Row–K across row. Repeat these 2 rows.

LEGGINGS 2010

Cast on 68 sts and work 1 inch in ribbing of K 2, P 2. Next row work beading, * K 1, yarn over, K 2 together, repeat from * to end of row and work 1 more inch of ribbing.
Next Row–Start shaping back. K 2, P 2, K 2, turn and work back to end of row.
2nd Row–Work across 12 sts, turn and work back to end of row.
3rd Row–Work across 18 sts, turn and work back to end of row.
4th Row–Work across 24 sts, turn and work back to end of row.
5th Row–Work across all sts.
Next Row–Start pattern and work 6½ inches even.
Next Row–Decrease one st each side every row 7 times (54 sts), then decrease 1 st every other row 14 more times (40 sts) and work 3 inches in ribbing of K 2, P 2.
Next Row–K across 28 sts, turn, K 16 sts, turn and work 14 rows on 16 sts. Pick up 9 sts at each side of tab and 12 sts on needle, turn, K 37 sts, pick up 9 sts on other side of tab and 12 sts left on needle and K 8 rows. Bind off and work other leg to correspond.
Sew seams and sew elastic for underfoot.
Crochet a cord length desired, lace through eyelets and finish ends with tassels.

SWEATER 2010

Cast on 50 sts and work in ribbing for 3 inches, work pattern for 8 inches even then increase one st each side every other row 4 times.
Next Two Rows–Cast on 26 sts for sleeves and work 2¼ inches.
Next Row–Work 48 sts, place these on a st holder or thread, bind off 14 sts for neck and work on remaining sts for left front.
Next 3 Rows–Decrease 1 st at neck side and work 8 rows even.
Next 3 Rows–Increase 1 st at neck side. Cast on 7 sts for front of neck and work 2¼ inches even. Bind off 26 sleeve sts and decrease 1 st every other row at underarm 4 times. Work other shoulder to correspond. Join fronts and finish same as back.
COLLAR. Pick up 72 sts around neck and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 3 inches. Pick up 28 sts at edge of sleeves and work 3 inches in ribbing.

CAP FOR LEGGING SUIT 2010

TAB. On No. 4 needles cast on 4 sts and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1. Increase 1 st each end in second row then increase 1 st every 6th row until there are 14 sts on needle, K 6 rows even, break yarn, leave work on needle cast on 4 sts on same needle and work a 2nd tab to correspond (both tabs on one needle in last row), do not break yarn, cast on 11 sts, work in ribbing across cast on sts and one tab, cast on 22 sts and work across 2nd tab, cast on 11 sts and work in ribbing across all sts until front ribbing measures 1¼ inches. Work in pattern same as suit for 3 inches ending with a K row and decreasing 1 st in last row. The remainder of cap is worked in stockinette st.
Next Row–Start shaping cap.
1st row. * K 3, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1. Next and every even row Purl across row.
3rd Row–* K 4, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
5th Row–* K 3, K 2 together repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
7th Row–* K 2, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
9th Row–* K 1, K 2 together, repeat from * across row ending with K 1.
11th Row–K 2 together across row.
12th Row–Purl across row, break yarn leaving an end for sewing, thread into needle, slip remaining sts on yarn, draw up and fasten firmly. Press cap under a damp cloth and sew back seam.

MITTENS 2010

On No. 3 needles cast on 34 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1½ inches.
Next Row–Beading. K 1, * yarn over, K 2 together, repeat from * ending row with K 1. Purl 1 row.
Change to No. 4 needles, * K 7 sts, increase in next st, repeat from * 3 times, K to end of row (38 sts), then work in stockinette st (P 1 row, K 1 row) until work measures 1 inch from beading ending with the P row.
Next Row–K 12 and place these sts on a st holder for thumb, continue working in stockinette st on remaining sts for 10 rows ending with the P row.
Next Row–* K 4, K 2 together, repeat from * 3 times, K 2. P 1 row.
Next Row–* K 3, K 2 together, repeat from * across row, K 2. P 1 row.
Next Row–K 2, * K 2 together, K 2, repeat from * across row. P 1 row.
Next Row–* K 2 together, repeat from * across row, break yarn leaving an end to sew. Thread yarn through needle and pull through the 7 sts twice.
Pick up the 12 thumb sts and work 5 rows in stockinette st.
Next Row–K 2 together 6 times and finish same as top of mitten.
Sew thumb, then sew side of mitten.
Work another mitten in same manner but when dividing sts for the thumb, K across row to within the last 12 sts, place these sts on a st holder and finish same as other mitten.
Crochet a cord about 14 inches long and lace through the beading. Finish with pompoms.
