Two Piece Suit Pattern #2018

Materials Required–AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"DAWN" SHETLAND TYPE FLOSS OR "DAWN" WOOL FLOSS
6 1-oz. Balls White or Colors.
1 Bone Crochet Hook No. 2 or 3.
1 Pr. Bone Knitting Needles No. 3 and 1 Pr. No. 1.

Gauge–7 sts = 1 inch. 10 rows = 1 inch.

PATTERN. K 1 row, P 1 row, K 1 row, P 1 row.
5th Row–K 1, * yarn over, P 2 together, K 2, repeat from * ending with Yarn over P 2 together, K 1.
6th Row–P 1, * K 2, P 2, repeat from * ending with K 2, P 1.
7th Row–K 1, * P 2 together, yarn over, K 2, repeat from * ending with P 2 together, yarn over, K 1.
8th Row–P 1, * K 2, P 2, repeat from * ending row with K 2, P 1. These 8 rows form the pattern.

SWEATER 2018

BACK. On No. 3 needles cast on 72 sts, change to No. 1 needles and work 20 rows ribbing of K 2, P 2. Change to large needles and work in pattern until back measures 7½ inches.
Next 2 Rows–Bind off 4 sts at the beginning of each row then decrease one st each side of every other row twice (6 sts decreased on each side) keeping pattern even. Continue on remaining sts for about 30 rows ending on the wrong side of work.
Next Row–Bind off the 1st 19 sts, work the next 22 sts and place them on a thread or stitch holder for the back of neck border, bind off remaining 19 sts, break yarn. Work the front same as back.
SLEEVES. On No. 1 needles cast on 50 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 12 rows. Change to large needles and K 21, P 8, K 21.
Next Row–Purl across row. Continue in stockinette st of K 1 row, P 1 row keeping the purled stripe for entire length of sleeve.
Next Row–Increase 1 st each side of row, then increase 1 st each side every 12th row 4 more times. (60 sts.) Work even until sleeve measures 7½ inches from beginning or is length desired at underarm.
Next 2 Rows–Bind off 4 sts at beginning of each row.
Next Row–Decrease 1 st each side, then decrease 1 st each side every 3rd row 8 more times.
Next 2 Rows–Bind off 10 sts at the beginning of each row, then work 3 inches even on the 14 sts, slip on a st holder and work other sleeve to correspond.
Sew front and back together. Sew sleeve seams.
Sew shoulder piece of sleeve and the 19 bound off shoulder sts and sew the remainder of sleeve to armhole edges leaving half of the back left shoulder seam open.
NECK BAND. On fine needles pick up the 22 back sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 6 rows, bind off loosely, break yarn.
With right side toward you, pick up each shoulder and front sts on one needle and work in ribbing same as back. Bind off and sew right band seams. Leave left side of band open and sew 3 snap fasteners in position.

PANTS 2018

On No. 1 needles cast on 74 sts and work in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1 inch.
Next Row–K 38, P 8, K 28.
Next Row–Purl across row. Continue work in stockinette st, carrying the purled stripe for entire leg.
Next 9 Rows–Increase 1 st each side of each row and continue until work measures 3 inches.
Next Row–Decrease 1 st each side then decrease 1 st each side every ½ inch 6 times, then decrease 1 st each side every inch twice. When work measures 8½ inches from beginning K 38, turn, purl back, K 28 turn, purl back, K 18 turn, purl back, K 8, turn, purl back, then work across all sts in ribbing of K 2, P 2 for 1½ inches, bind off.
Work other leg to correspond reversing the stripe by starting 1st pattern row with K 28, P 8, K 38 and beginning the shaping with P 38, turn, K back, P 28, turn, K back, P 18, turn, K back, P 8, turn, K back, finish same as other leg. Sew front and back seams to crotch. Sew leg seams.
CASING FOR ELASTIC. (Inside at waistline.) Join yarn, * ch 5, sl st in next rib ½ inch below, ch 5, sl st in next rib ½ inch above, repeat from * all around.
