Toddler Sizes 2 and 3

MATERIALS:
CHADWICK'S RED HEART BABY BUNT­ING, (¾ oz. balls), 2 balls of Blue for main color and 1 ball each of Pink and White for stripes, for each size.
Clark's O.N.T. Knitting Pins, 1 pair No. 1 and 1 pair No. 3.
3 small pearl buttons.
   
GAUGE: 7 sts make 1 inch; 9 rows make 1 inch.

FRONT … Starting at bottom with Blue and No. 1 needles, cast on

Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 4 rows.
Change to No. 3 needles and work in stockinette st (k 1 row, p 1 row) in striped pattern as follows: Work 2 rows White, 2 rows Pink, 4 rows Blue. Repeat these 8 rows until piece measures in all

To Shape Armholes: Bind off at the beginning of the next 2 rows

Bind off loosely for front of neck the next 27 sts and finish row. Turn and work over the last set of sts only for right shoulder until piece measures 1 inch from front of neck, ending with 2 rows of Blue. Bind off. Attach yarn to sts of left shoulder and work to cor­respond.
BACK … Work same as Front, omit­ting neck shaping.
SLEEVES … With Blue and No. 1 needles, cast on

Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 4 rows. Change to No. 3 needles and work in striped pattern as on Front until sleeve measures in all

To shape top, bind off at beginning of next 2 rows

Dec 1 st at beginning of each row until 18 sts remain. Bind off with Blue.
NECKBAND … Sew right shoulder seam. With right side facing, using No. 1 needles and Blue, pick up 100 sts around neck edge. Work in ribbing of k 1, p 1, for 4 rows. Bind off loosely in ribbing.
Press pieces lightly through damp cloth with hot iron. Starting at armhole edge, sew left shoulder seam for ½ inch. Sew side and sleeve seams and sew in sleeves, matching stripes. Work a row of sc along opening of left shoulder (including neckband), making three ch-3 buttonloops on front edge. Sew on buttons.
