MATERIAL:
5 (6-7) skeins Bulky Thick and Thin Yarn (2 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles each No. 10 and No. 13
1 stitch holder
1 crochet hook No. 9 or I
1 jacket zipper 14 (16-18) inch. long

GAUGE: 5 sts. = 1 inch.

BACK:
Cast on 28 (30-32) sts. with No. 10 needles and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½ (2-2) inch. Incr. 2 (3-3) sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 13 needles and stock. st. With 30 (33-35) sts. work even until the entire piece measures 8 (9-10) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 (3-3) sts., decr. 1 st. at the beg. of the next 2 rows. (24 (25-27) sts. left). Work even for 5½ (6-6½) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 2 (2-2) rows 6 (7-8) sts., rem. 12 (11-11) sts. slip on a holder.

FRONT:
Cast on 14 (14-16) sts. with No. 10 needles and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½ (2-2) inch., keeping the 2 center front sts. in garter st. for border throughout the entire front. Incr. 2 (3-3) sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 13 needles and stock. st. With 16 (17-19) sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back to underarm. Bind off at underarm edge 2 (3-3) sts. and decr. at the beg. of the next 2 rows at same edge 1 st. (12 (12-14) sts. left). Work even for 4 (4½-5) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for neck 4 (4-4) sts. at center edge and then decr. 1 st. at neck edge until 6 (7-8) sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 6 (7-8) sts. once. Work the other front to correspond.

SLEEVE:
Cast on 18 (20-22) sts. with No. 10 needles and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 1½ (2-2) inch. Incr. 2 sts. at even intervals across last row of ribbing. Change to No. 13 needles and stock. st. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every 6th row until 22 (24-28) sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 9 (10-11) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until cap measures 2 (2½-3) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 4th row once (once-twice). Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 2 rows (all sizes). Bind off rem. sts. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING:
Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Hood: Right side facing you, pick up with No. 10 needles 28 (30-32) sts. around the neck and work in ribbing K1, P1 for 5 (5-5) rows. (Always keep the 2 sts. on each end of needle in garter st.) Change to No. 13 needles and stock. st. and incr. 4 (4-6) sts. at even intervals across next row. Work even for 6 (6½-7½) inch. Weave sts. tog. With No. 9 crochet hook work 1 row s.c. down each front and around hood. Sew zipper in place and block to size.
