MATERIAL:
6 (8) balls Mohair 100% (40 gr. ball), or
3 (4) skeins Knitting Worsted (4 oz. skein)
1 pair knitting needles No. 8
1 crochet hook No. 8 or H
7 (8) buttons

GAUGE: 4 sts. = 1 inch

BACK:
Cast on 60 (66) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in stock. st. for 1 inch. P1 row on right side for hemline. Cont. stock. st. until piece measures 2½ (3) inch. above hemline. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of row every 1 inch 6 (7) times. With 48 (52) sts. work even until the entire piece measures 11 (12) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 (4) sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (38 (40) sts. left). Work even for 5 (5½) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at the beg. of the next 4 (4) rows 6 (7) sts., rem. 14 (12) sts. bind off for neck.

LEFT FRONT:
Cast on 33 (37) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in stock. st. for 1 inch. P1 row on right side for hemline. Cont. stock. st. and cast on 5 (5) sts. at center edge. Keep these 5 sts. in seed st. for buttonhole border throughout the entire front. Work even for 2½ (3) inch. above hemline. Decr. 1 st. at armhole edge every 1 inch 6 (7) times. With 32 (35) sts. work even until the entire piece measures like back to underarm. Bind off at underarm edge 4 (5) sts. and at the beg. of the next row at same edge 2 sts. (26 (28) sts. left). Work even for 3½ (4) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for neck 6 (8) sts. at center edge and then always 2 sts. at neck edge until 12 (14) sts. are left over. Work as high as back and bind off for shoulder at armhole edge 6 (7) sts. twice.

RIGHT FRONT:
Work as Left Front reversing all shapings. Work 7 (8) buttonholes evenly spaced apart in front border, placing first buttonhole 1½ inch. above hemline and last one 4 rows below neck shaping. (To make a buttonhole: work 2 rows seed st., bind off next 2 sts., work to end of row. On next row cast on 2 sts. over the 2 bound off sts. of previous row.)

SLEEVE:
Cast on 24 (28) sts. with No. 8 needles and work in stock. st. for 1 inch. P1 row on right side for hemline. Cont. stock. st. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and at the end of every 6th row until 34 (38) sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 9 (9½) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 3 (4) sts. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of each row until cap measures 2 (2½) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 4th row twice. Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 4 rows. Bind off rem. sts. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

FINISHING:
Sew up side, shoulder and sleeve seams. Sew in sleeves. Collar: Wrong side facing, starting in center of buttonhole border pick up and K56 (62) sts. around the neck. Work even for 1¼ (1½) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. of the next 6 rows. Bind off 2 sts. at the beg. of the next 6 rows. Bind off rem. sts. Turn up hem and cuffs and sew to inside of coat. With No. 8 crochet hook work 2 rows s.c. around collar and 1 row s.c. along each front edge. Sew buttons in place and block to size.
