These directions are for Size 10. Changes for Sizes 12, 14 and 16 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS REQUIRED:

Columbia-Minerva Skylark Sports Yarn (2 oz skein) - 6(6-7-7) skeins

Knitting Needles: 1 pair "Boye" Size 3 - 14 inch and 1 "Boye" cable needle
Gauge: 10 sts to 1 inch; 16 rows to 1 ½ inches (before dropping sts), 7 sts to 1 inch (after dropping sts)
1 "Boye" Steel Crochet Hook Size 1

PATTERN STITCH: (Multiple of 5 sts) Row 1: K 2, *P 1, K 4, repeat from * across, ending K 2 instead of K 4. Row 2: K 3, *P 4, K 1, repeat from * across, ending K 3 instead of K 1. Row 3: K 2, *P 1, sl next 2 sts onto cable needle and hold in front of work, K next 2 sts, then K the 2 sts from cable needle, repeat from * across, ending P 1, K 2. Row 4: Same as Row 2. Repeat these 4 rows for pat.

NOTE: THE P ST EACH SIDE OF CABLE IS ALWAYS DROPPED OFF THE NEEDLE WHEN DEC'ING OR BINDING OFF, THEN LET THE ST RUN DOWN TO FORM LADDER ST BETWEEN CABLES. WHEN BINDING OFF, ALWAYS KEEP THE ST TO BE DROPPED LOOSE AND COUNT THIS DROPPED ST AS 1 OF THE BOUND-OFF STS.

BACK: Cast on 88(96-100-108) sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 inches, ending on right side of work. Next row K 2, yo, *P 4, yo, repeat from * across, ending K 2 - 110(120-125-135) sts on needle. Work in pat st. When work measures 14 inches, or desired length from start, To Shape Armholes: Bind off 6(7-7-8) sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 4 times - 90(98-103-111) sts on needle. When armholes measure 8 ½ inches, measured straight from bound-off sts at underarm, To Shape Shoulders: Bind off 9(10-11-12) sts at beg of next 4(4-6-6) rows, then on Size 10 only bind off 10 sts at beg of next 2 rows and on Size 12 only bind off 11 sts at beg of next 2 rows. Bind off rem 34(36-37-39) sts for back of neck.

FRONT: Work same as Back to underarm, ending on right side of work. Next row (wrong side of work) work across 48(53-55-60) sts, sl these sts onto st holder, bind off center 14(14-15-15) sts and on rem sts work Right Front as follows: To Shape Armhole: Bind off 7(8-8-9) sts at side edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row 8 times - 33(37-39-43) sts on needle. When armhole measures 7 inches, measured straight, To Shape Neck: Dec 1 st at front edge, then dec 1 st at same edge every other row 4(5-5-6) times more. When armhole measures same as at Back, To Shape Shoulder: Bind off 9(10-1112) sts at armhole edge every other row 2(2-3-3) times, then on Size 10 only bind off 10 sts 1 time and on Size 12 only bind off 11 sts 1 time. Sl sts of Left Front onto needle and work to correspond with Right Front.

SLEEVES: Cast on 56(56-60-60) sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3 ½ inches, ending on right side of work. Next row K 2, yo, *P 4, yo, repeat from * across, ending K 2 - 70(70-75-75) sts on needle. Work in pat st. When work measures 5 ½ inches from start, inc 1 st each side by inc’ing 1 st in second st at beg of row and in next to the last st of same row, then inc 1 st each side in this manner every 1 ½”(1 ½”-1 ½”-1”) 4(2-2-4) times more, then every 0(1”-1”-¾”) 0(4-4-4) times - 80(84-89-93) sts on needle. When work measures 14 inches, or desired length from start, To Shape Cap of Sleeve: Bind off 6 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then dec 1 st each side every other row 20(19-22-21) times. Bind off 3 sts at beg of next 6(8-8-10) rows, then bind off rem sts.

COLLAR: Starting at outside edge, cast on 75(75-80-80) sts. Work in pat St. When work measures 3 inches from start, bind off 5 sts at beg of next 2 rows, then bind off 10 sts at beg of next 4 rows. Bind off rem 25(25-30-30) sts.

Sew shoulder seams. Sew Sleeves in place. Sew underarm and sleeve seams. Sew Collar to neck edge, starting and ending at front edge.

NECK AND COLLAR BORDERS: (Make 2) Cast on 12 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, until work measures 9 ½”(9 ½”-10”-10”) from start, bind off in ribbing. Sew Borders to edges of front opening and Collar, having right border as overlap. Work 1 row of sc at edge of borders.
