MATERIAL:
  1 skein Knitting Worsted (3¾ oz. skein)  Main Color (m.c.) 
  1 skein Knitting Worsted (2 oz. skein)  Contrasting color (c.c.) 
  1 set bone sock needles No. 2 and No. 4  for small and medium sizes 
  1 set bone sock needles No. 3 and No. 5  for large size 
GAUGE: 5 sts = 1 inch
Dot pattern: 1st round: * K5 m.c., drop m.c. attach c.c. and make  a dot as follows: K out of the next st. 5 sts. by going alternately in front  and back of the same st. After the 5 sts. are made, pull the first st. over the  4 other sts., then the 2nd st. over the 3 other sts. and so on until only 1 st.  in c.c. is left over. Drop c.c. and pick up m.c. repeat from * all around,  always carrying c.c. loosely in back of work. K3 rounds in m.c. 5th round: K2 m.c. * drop m.c. pick up c.c. make a dot out of next st. drop c.c. and pick  up m.c. K5 m.c. repeat from * all around. K3 rounds in m.c. Repeat these 8  rounds for pattern.
   For all sizes cast on 48 sts. (16-16-16)  with c.c. and No. 2 needles, join and K for 10 rounds. Next round: fold  piece in half and K each st. tog. with the corresponding st. of first row, (to  make a hem) then change to m.c. and K4 rounds. Work dot pattern as picture  shows. Then K4 rounds in m.c. drop m.c. pick up c.c. and K4 rounds c.c., break  off c.c. Turn cuff inside out, (wrong side of cuff is right side of sock) and  work in m.c. for 4½ (5-5½) inch. K next 24 sts. on to one needle (heel needle)  and divide the remaining 24 sts. on 2 needles for instep. Now work over heel  sts. only. 1st row: P across. 2nd row: K across. Repeat these 2  rows until 15 (17-19) rows in all on heel needle. Turn heel, right side facing  you K14, K2 tog., K1, turn, slip 1, P5, P2 tog., P1, turn, slip 1, K6, K2 tog.,  K1, turn, slip 1, P7, P2 tog., P1, turn, slip 1, KS, K2 tog., K1, turn.  Continue this way working 1 more st. each row until 14 sts. are left on needle.  Pick up and K along one side of heel 7 (8-9) sts. (first needle). Work across  instep sts. (2nd needle). Pick up and K along other side of heel 7 (8-9) sts.  and work 7 sts. from heel needle on to same needle (3rd needle). Slip the  remaining 7 sts. from heel needle on to first needle, ending at center of sole.  Decrease for instep as follows: 1st round: K around. 2nd round: K  across first needle to within 3 sts., K2 tog., K1, work across 2nd needle. On  3rd needle: K1, slip 1, K1 and pull the slipped st. over the K st. Work to  end. Repeat the last 2 rounds until there are 44 (48) sts. in round. Work even  until piece measures from back of heel 7 (8-9) inch. Start to decrease for toe. First round: On first needle, K to within 3 sts., K2 tog., K1, on 2nd  needle, K1, slip 1, K1, pass the slipped st. over the K st., K across to within  3 sts. K2 tog., K1, on 3rd needle K1, slip 1, K1, pass the slipped st. over the  K st. K to end. 2nd round: K around. Repeat these 2 rounds until 12 sts.  are left over. Weave sts tog. and steam lightly.
