Sizes 14, 16, 18

Instructions are for size 14, changes for sizes 16 and 18 are in parentheses.

MATERIALS—Bear Brand Tricolaine, Main Color A, Skirt 19 (20-22) skeins; Waist—5 (5-6) skeins. Contrasting Colors B, 1 skein; C, 2 skeins.
Bucilla Circular Steel Knitting Needle, Size 2.
Bucilla Featherlite Aluminum Knitting Needles, 1 pair Size 2.
Bucilla Steel Crochet Hook, Size 4.

MEASUREMENTS OF GARMENT
Waist—at bustline 34 (36-38) ins.
Width of back at bustline 16¼ (17½-18¾) ins.; at shoulders including sleeves 20 (21¼-22½) ins.
Width of front at bustline 17½ (18¾-20) ins.; at shoulders including sleeves 21¼ (22½-23¾) ins.
Length from waistline to back of neck 16 (16¼-16½) ins.

GAUGE: Stockinette st—8 sts = 1 inch; 12 rows = 1 inch

SKIRT

Follow instructions for Narrow Ribbed Skirt Pattern.

WAIST

FRONT—With straight needles and A, cast on 110 (120-130) sts. K 1 row, p 1 row.

Inc. row—K, increasing 16 sts evenly spaced across row; 126 (136-146) sts. Continue in stockinette st, increasing 1 st each side every 8th row 7 times; 140 (150-160) sts. Work even until 6 ins. from lower edge. Inc. 1 st each side every 2nd row 3 times. Cast on 2 sts at beg. of next 12 rows for sleeves; 170 (180-190) sts. Work even for 1½  ins., end with p row.

Yoke—Row 1—* With A, k 2, with B, k 4, with A, k 4—always carry yarn not in use loosely on wrong side of work; repeat from * to end.

Row 2—* P 3 A, 6 B, 1 A; repeat from * to end. Continue pat., following chart, for 45 more rows. Break off A and B. With C only, work even until sleeve edges measure 6 ins. from last cast-on sts, end with p row.

Neck Shaping—K 72 (77-82) sts, place on holder for left half of front, bind off 26 sts, finish row. Work right half, decreas­ing 1 st at neck edge every row, until sleeve edge measures 6¼ (6½-6¾) ins. Continuing decs. at neck edge until there are 10 decs. in all, bind off 3 sts 9 times; 10 sts 3 times, on rows beg. from armhole edge. K 1 row. Bind off remaining 5 (10-15) sts.

Take up sts of left side. Beg. at neck edge, finish to corres­pond to right side.

BACK—Cast on 100 (110-120) sts. K 1 row, p 1 row. Inc. 16 sts evenly spaced across next row; 116 (126-136) sts. Continue in stockinette st shaping underarm edges as on front; having 130 (140-150) sts at bustline; 160 (170-180) sts at beg. of sleeves. Work even until same length as front to beg. of pat. Work yoke pat. as on front for 12 rows.

Back Opening—Work 13th row of pat. on first 80 (85-90) sts; place remaining sts on holder for left half of back. Continuing pat. work right half of yoke to correspond to front, keeping edges even, until sleeve edge is same length as on front, end at sleeve edge. Shape upper edge of sleeve and shoulder as on front. Bind off remaining 18 sts for back of neck. Take up sts of left side. Begin at center back with 13th pat. row (for size 16 only begin with 6th st of row on chart as follows: K 2 B, 3 C, * 2 B, 2 C, 3 B, 3 C; repeat from * to end); finish left half to correspond to right.

FINISHING—Block each piece separately, see pattern book. Sew seams. Roll under and sew narrow hem at edge of sleeves. From right side with C, work 1 row sc around back opening and neck edge increasing at corners, making 4 buttonloops evenly spaced on right edge of opening. Sew waist to skirt holding in extra fullness evenly. Make casing for elastic as for one-piece dress see pattern book. Steam seams.
