MATERIALS
BERNAT Fleurette—26(27-28) skeins
BERNAT Tinsel—2 tubes Silver
1 pair each straight knitting needles Nos. 1 and 2 (standard)
1 24 inch circular needle No. 2 (standard)
1 steel crochet hook No. 3
1 slide fastener
1 yd 1 inch elastic
1 pair shoulder pads

GAUGE: 7 sts = 1 inch; 10 rows = 1 inch

SKIRT

NOTE: Any changes in length of skirt are made before first dec round.

Using circular needle, cast on 480(500-520) sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Round 1: * K 20(21-22) sts, P 4, repeat from * round and round for 3½ inches. FIRST DEC ROUND: Continue in ribbing pattern, dec 1 st in center of each K panel—20 sts dec. Repeat this dec round every 2½ inches until piece measures 18(18-23) inches—360(380-360) sts. On the next round dec in same manner as before and repeat this dec round every 2 inches until piece measures 31(31-32) inches—220(240-260) sts. On the next round dec in same manner as before. Work even until piece measures 32(32-33) inches. Bind off re­maining 200(220-240) sts.

BLOUSE

PATTERN STITCH FOR YOKE
Rows 1 and 2: Using Silver, knit.
Rows 3 and 4: Using Silver, purl.
Rows 5 through 10: Following chart, work pattern in stockinette st.
Rows 11 and 12: Using Black, knit.
Rows 13 and 14: Using Silver, knit.
Rows 15 and 16: Using Black, knit.
Repeat Rows 5 through 14 once more.

BACK: Using No. 2 needles and Black, cast on 102(111-116) sts. Work in stockinette st, dec 1 st each end of needle every 1 inch 5 times. Work even on 92(101-106) sts until piece measures 5½(5½-6) inches. Change to No. 1 needles and K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 1 inch. Change to No. 2 needles and work in stockinette st, inc 1 st each end of needle every ¾ inch 10 times. Work even on 112(121-126) sts until piece measures 14½(14½-15) inches. SHAPE ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 6 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 4(5-4) times. Work even on 92(99-106) sts until armholes measure 1½ inches, end­ing with a P row. Now work yoke pattern until 16 rows have been completed. BACK OPENING: Still following pattern, work across 46(49-53) sts; join another ball of yarn; (NOTE: ON SIZE 16 ONLY, bind off center st); ON ALL SIZES, work remaining 46(49-53) sts. Work even on both sides at once until the 26 rows of pattern st has been completed. Now work in Black stockinette st until armholes measure 7¼(7½-7¾) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At each arm edge bind off 10(8-11) sts 3(4-3) times. Bind off remaining 16(17-20) sts of each side.

FRONT: Using No. 2 needles and Black, cast on 111(116- 123) sts. Work in stockinette st, dec 1 st each end of needle every 1 inch 5 times. Work even on 101(106-113) sts until piece measures 5½(5½-6) inches. Change to No. 1 needles and K 1, P 1 in ribbing for 1 inch. Change to No. 2 needles and work in stockinette st, inc 1 st each end of needle every ¾ inch 10 times. Work even on 121(126-133) sts until piece measures 14½(14½-15) inches. SHAPE ARMHOLES: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 9(8-8) sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row 5 times. Work even on 93(100-107) sts until armholes measure 1½ inches, ending with a P row and dec 1 st at end of last row. Now work 26 rows of yoke pattern. Then work in Black stock­inette st until armholes measure 6¼(6½-6¾) inches. SHAPE NECK: Work 33(35-36) sts; join another ball of yarn and bind off center 26(29-34) sts; work remaining 33(35-36) sts. Working on both sides at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every other row 3 times. Work even on 30(32-33) sts of each side until armholes measure 7½(7½-7¾) inches. SHAPE SHOULDERS: At each arm edge bind off 10(8-11) sts 3(4-3) times.

SLEEVES: Using No. 2 needles, cast on 60(60-64) sts. Work in stockinette st for 2 inches. On the next row inc 1 st each end of needle and repeat this inc every ¾ inch until there are 88(94-98) sts. Work even until piece measures 17½(18-18) inches. SHAPE CAP: At the beg of each of the next 2 rows bind off 8 sts. Dec 1 st each end of needle every other row for 1½ inches, ending with a P row. Still dec 1 st each end of needle every other row, work 26 rows of yoke pattern. Then continue in Black stockinette st, dec 1 st each end of needle every other row until cap measures 4¼(4½-4¾) inches. At the beg of each of the next 6 rows bind off 3 sts. Bind off remaining sts.

FINISHING: Using Black, work 2 rows around bottom and top edges of skirt. Work a beading on inside top edge of skirt. Sew underarm, shoulder and sleeve seams. Set in sleeves, being sure to match yoke pattern. Using Black, work 2 rows s c around bottom, sleeve, neck and back opening edges. Block skirt and blouse. Run elastic, cut to waist measurement, through beading and sew ends tog. Sew slide fastener in back opening. Sew in shoulder pads.
