SCALE: 5½ sts to 1 in.

Jack Frost Sport Yarn-1 2-oz. Ball Contrasting Color and 5 2-oz. Balls Main Color
                                                               
BACK: With No. 4 Needles and main color, cast on 81 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 in. Change to contrasting color and continue ribbing until piece measures 3 in. from lower edge. Change to main color and continue ribbing until piece measures 4½ in. from lower edge, ending on right side. Change to contrasting color and P 1 row increasing to 102 sts at even intervals across row. Work in rib pattern as follows:
Row 1—P 2, * K 8, P 2; repeat from * across row.
Row 2—K 2, * P 8, K 2; repeat from * across row.
Repeat above 2 rows for pattern to neck edge. When piece measures 6 in. from lower edge, change to main color and No. 8 Needles and work even until piece measures 12½ in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 4 times. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 39 sts. Change to contrasting color and work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 2 rows. Change to main color and continue ribbing for 2 more rows. Change to contrasting color and continue ribbing for 5 more rows (10 rows in all). Bind off.

FRONT: Work same as given for back until ribbing measures 4½ in. from lower edge. Change to contrasting color and P 1 row increasing to 108 sts. Work in rib pattern as given for back starting with K 8, instead of P 2, working a cable twist over the 3rd, 6th, and 9th ribs of K 8; 6 in. from lower edge and every 3 in. thereafter as follows: slip the first 4 sts to double pointed Needle, hold in back of work, K the next 4 sts, then bring the slipped sts forward and K them from double pointed Needle.
When piece measures 6 in. from lower edge, continuing pat­tern, change to main color and work even until piece measures 12½ in, from lower edge, ending on wrong side. On the next row, bind off 6 sts, work over the next 48 sts; place on st-holder. Work across remaining 54 sts, then bind off 6 sts at underarm edge once; decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 4 times; at the same time, decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row until 24 sts remain. Work even until piece measures 6½ in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 6 sts every other row 4 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 4 Needles and contrasting color, on right side of garment, pick up 62 sts from shoulder to point of V, 1 st at point of V, 62 sts from point of V to right shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, changing colors as given for back neckband and decreasing 1 st at each side of st at point of V on every row. Bind off, decreasing as given above.
Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

SLEEVES: With No. 4 Needles cast on 45 sts. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, in striped pattern as given for lower edge of back until piece measures 4 in. from lower edge. P 1 row increasing to 52 sts. Change to contrasting color and work in rib pattern of P 2, K 8, until piece measures 5½ in. from lower edge. Change to No. 8 Needles and continue pattern increasing 1 st at each end on the next and every 8th row thereafter to 68 sts. Work even until piece measures 18 in. from lower edge. Bind off 6 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 4 times, then every 4th row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 18 sts remain. Bind off remain­ing sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
