SCALE: 6 sts to 1 in.

Jack Frost Knitting Worsted—2½ 4-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 4 Needles cast on 77 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 7 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 92 sts at even intervals across row. Work in pattern as given for No. 5208 (starting with row 2), until piece measures 10 in. from lower edge. Bind off 4 sts at begin­ning of each of next 2 rows for underarm, then 3 sts at begin­ning of each of next 4 rows. Work even until piece measures 8½ in. from first bound off sts at underarm. Bind off 8 sts at beginning of each of next 6 rows for shoulders. Change to No. 4 Needles increasing to 31 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows. Bind off.

FRONT: With No. 4 Needles cast on 77 sts. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 7 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 112 sts at even intervals across row. Work in pattern as given for back starting the cable twist over the 2nd rib of K 8, instead of the first, until piece measures 10 in. from lower edge. Work over 56 sts; place on st-holder. On remaining 56 sts, work 1 row even; bind off 4 sts at underarm edge once, then 3 sts at underarm edge every other row 2 times; at the same time, decrease 1 st at neck edge every other row 9 times, then every 3rd row until 24 sts remain. Work even until piece measures 8½ in. from first bound off sts at under­arm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 8 sts every other row 3 times. Work other side to correspond.

FRONT NECKBAND: With No. 4 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 55 sts from shoulder to point of V, 1 st at point of V, 55 sts from point of V to right shoulder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows, decreasing 1 st at each side of st at point of V on every row. Bind off, decreasing as given above.

Sew shoulder seams.

ARMHOLE BANDS: With No. 4 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 113 sts from end to end of armhole. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 6 rows. Bind off.

Sew underarm seams.
