SCALE: 6 sts to 1 in.

Jack Frost Knitting Worsted—6 4-oz. Skeins

BACK: With No. 7 Needles cast on 112 sts. Work in pattern as follows:
Row 1—K 2, * P 8, K 2; repeat from * across row.
Row 2—P 2, * K 8, P 2; repeat from * across row.
Row 3—Repeat row 1.
Row 4—* P 2, slip next 2 sts to Double Pointed Needle (D P N), hold in back of work, K the next 2 sts, then K .the 2 sts from D P N; slip the next 2 sts to D P N, hold in front of work, K the next 2 sts, then K the 2 sts from D P N; P 2, K 8; repeat from * across row ending last repeat P 2. Repeat above 4 rows 3 times, then repeat rows 1, 2 and 3 twice.
Row 23—* P 2, K 8, P 2, work cable twists over the next 8 sts as given for row 4; repeat from * across row ending last repeat P 2, K 8, P 2.
Repeat rows 1, 2 and 3.
Repeat from row 23 three times.
The above 38 rows form pattern. Repeat them until piece measures 6 in. from lower edge. Change to No. 4 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 10 in., from lower edge. Change to No. 7 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 15 in. from lower edge. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times. Work even until piece measures 7 in. from underarm. Bind off 7 sts at beginning of each of next 8 rows for shoulders. Bind off remaining sts for back of neck.

RIGHT FRONT: With No. 7 Needles cast on 69 sts. Starting on wrong side, work as follows:
Row 1—K 2, * P 8, K 2; repeat from * across row ending with P 1, K 1, over the last 7 sts for buttonhole band. Row 2—K 1, P 1, over the first 7 Sts, P 2, * K 8, P 2; repeat from * across row,
Row 3—Repeat row 1.
Row 4—K 1, P 1, over the first 7 sts, P 2, * work cable twists over the next 8 sts as given for back, P 2, K 8; repeat from * across row.
Continue in pattern as given for back, keeping the first 7 sts worked in ribbing of K 1, P 1, working a buttonhole 1 in. from lower edge and every 2½ in. thereafter to neck edge, working last buttonhole in neckband, as follows: Starting on wrong side, work in pattern to within last 7 sts, K 1, P 1, bind off next 2 sts, K 1, P 1, K 1. Work back, casting on 2 sts over .the bound off sts. When piece measures 6 in. from lower edge, change to No. 4 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 10 in. from lower edge. Change to No. 7 Needles and continue pattern until piece measures 15 in. from lower edge. Keeping front edge even, bind off 10 sts at underarm edge once; decrease 1 st at underarm edge every other row 10 times. Work even until piece measures 5½ in. from underarm. Keeping armhole edge even, work over the first 7 sts at neck edge; place on st-holder. Bind off next 10 sts, work across row. Work back, then de­crease 1 st at neck edge every other row 4 times. Work even until piece measures 7 in. from underarm. Starting at shoulder edge, bind off 7 sts every other row 4 times.

LEFT FRONT: Work to correspond to right front, omitting buttonholes and binding off for underarm on right side instead of wrong side.
Sew shoulder and underarm seams.

NECKBAND: With No. 4 Needles on right side of garment, pick up 77 sts from end to end of neckband, including sts which were placed on st-holder. Work in ribbing of K 1, P 1, for 7 rows. Bind off.

SLEEVES: With No. 4 Needles cast on 45 sts. Work in rib­bing of K 1, P 1, for 3½ in. Change to No. 7 Needles and P 1 row increasing to 52 sts. Work in pattern as given for back starting with Row 1, increasing 1 st at each end on the 3rd and every 7th row thereafter to 72 sts. Work even until piece measures 18 in. from lower edge. Bind off 5 sts at beginning of each of next 2 rows for underarm; decrease 1 st at each end every other row 5 times, then every 3rd row 3 times. Bind off 2 sts at beginning of every row until 18 sts remain. Bind off remaining sts.

Sew sleeve seams. Sew sleeves in place.
