The entire suit is worked in Stockinette St.

BLOUSE: Back—Cast on 98 sts. Increase 1 st. each side every ½ inch 11 times, work 1½ inches even. Bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 9 times.

When work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 8 rows. Bind off remaining 32 sts. for back of neck.

Right Front—Cast on 56 sts. Working even at center edge, increase 1 st. at side edge every ½ inch 10 times.

At the same time, when work measures ½ inch from start, work a buttonhole as follows: Work over 3 sts. from center edge, bind off 4 sts., work to end of row. Next row cast on 4 sts. over the bound off sts. Work a buttonhole in this manner every 3 inches 4 more times.

When work measures 5 inches from start, for pocket opening work over 17 sts., place remaining sts. on a st. holder. Working back and forth on these 17 sts., work even for 4 inches and place on a st. holder. Pick up the sts. first placed on a st. holder and work even for 2 inches. Bind off 7 sts. once at side edge for underarm, then decrease 1 st., on same edge, every other row 12 times.

At the same time, when work measures 2 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, pick up sts. from st. holder, join, and work both pieces in one piece.

When work measures 6 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 10 sts. from center edge for neck. Decrease 1 st. at neck edge every row 9 times. At the same time, when work measures 7 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. from armhole edge, every other row 4 times. All sts. have been worked off.

Left Front—Work to correspond to right front omitting buttonholes.

Sleeves—Cast on 50 sts. Work even for 3 inches, then increase 1 st. each side. Increase 1 st. each side every inch 6 times, then every ½ inch 10 times. When work measures 16 inches from start, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 17 times, then every row 11 times. Bind off remaining 14 sts.

Sew shoulder seams, sew sleeves in place, sew underarm and sleeve seams to within 3 inches from bottom of sleeve.

Make silk pockets and sew in place, sew zippers in pocket openings.

Cuffs—Cast on 56 sts. Increase 1 st. each side every other row 4 times, then every 3rd row 3 times. Work 2 rows even, then decrease 1 st. each side every 3rd row 3 times, then every other row 4 times. Bind off. Fold in half lengthwise and sew in place as illustrated, sewing buttons on outside of cuffs for trim.

Collar—Cast on 91 sts. Increase 1 st. each side every 3rd row 14 times, work 2 rows even. De­crease 1 st. each side every 3rd row 14 times, bind off. Fold in half lengthwise and sew in place.

Work 1 row S. C. around the open edges of cuff, and down front edges of blouse. Work beading at bottom for elastic.

CAPE-COAT: Back—Cast on 273 sts. K. 49, put in a thread marker, K. 35 (gore), put in a thread marker, K. 35, put in a thread marker, K. 35 (gore), put in a marker, K. 35, put in a marker, K. 35 (gore), put in a marker, K. 49.

Decreases at side edges and in gores are worked at the same time. When decreasing in the gores, K. 2 tog. directly after the first marker and di­rectly before the second marker, directly after the third marker and directly before the fourth marker, directly after the fifth marker and direct­ly before the sixth marker.

The decreases in the gores are as follows: Work 3 inches and decrease as described above, decrease in this manner every 2 inches 3 times, then every inch 12 times. Work ½ inch, then with only 3 sts. between the markers, decrease by slip 1, K. 2 tog., P. S. S. O. The markers may now be taken out.

The decreases at the side edges are as follows: Work 3 inches and decrease 1 st. each side. De­crease 1 st. each side every 2 inches 5 times, then every inch 8 times, work 1 inch even.

Bind off 10 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 2 rows for underarm, then decrease 1 st. each side every other row 15 times.

When work measures 8 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. at the beginning of each of the next 8 rows, bind off remaining 37 sts.

Right Front—Cast on 84 sts. Work even for 3 inches, then decrease 1 st. at side edge. Decrease 1 st. at side edge every 2 inches 5 times, then every inch 8 times, work 1 inch even.

At the same time, when work measures 12 inches from start, work a buttonhole as follows: Work over 4 sts. from center edge, bind off 5 sts., work to end of row. Next row cast on 5 sts. over the bound off sts. Make a buttonhole in this manner every 3 inches 5 more times.

When work measures 22 inches from start, bind off 10 sts. at side edge once for underarm, then decrease 1 st. on same edge every other row 14 times.

When work measures 6½ inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. once, at center edge for neck, then decrease 1 st. on same edge every row 11 times.

When work measures 8 inches straight up from the bound off sts. at underarm, bind off 7 sts. from armhole edge, every other row 4 times. All sts. have been worked off.

Left Front—Work to correspond to right front omitting buttonholes.

Sew shoulder seams. Work 1 row S. C. around all edges of cape. Turn under a ¼ inch hem around armholes and face with matching ribbon. Face front edges.

SKIRT: With circular needle, cast on 330 sts. Join, being careful not to twist sts. Work 5 inches even and decrease as follows: * K. 31, K. 2 tog., repeat from * around row. (10 sts. decreased in row.)

In each decreasing row there is 1 less st. between the decreases (K. 2 tog.) than in previous de­creasing row.

Decrease in this manner every 4 inches twice, then every 3 inches 2 times, then every 2 inches 3 times, then every inch 5 times, work 1 inch even (skirt measures 31 inches). Bind off.

Work 2 rows S. C. around bottom of skirt. Work beading at top for elastic. Draw 1 piece of elastic thru both the beading on the blouse and that on the skirt.
